Having awful days! Help!

Recommended Posts

Each day, starting from Thursday has just gotten worse and worse. Thursday my stomach decided it didn't like any kind of food and I was stuck back on liquids. Friday I felt a little better I could have food in the morning and had to be on liquids at night otherwise it all just came back up. Saturday I could not keep anything down liquid or food. I finally got home from work and was able to keep chamomile tea down. So Sunday was an entire day of chamomile tea hot or iced, until I got home from work. I then decided I needed to try to get some Protein in my system, so I made a small cup of cream of mushroom Soup. Probably not my smartest idea but there you go. I immediately started puking II haven't stopped since. My stomach is empty and I keep trying to puke. I tried to take Pepto chewables and those just keep coming up. I am desperate for help on how to make this stop!!!!

Omg, I am so sorry for this. That must be horrible! Sounds like there isn't ANYTHING that you will be able to keep down. I am only 12 days post so I still do liquids only with the exception of Greek yogurt. I haven't thrown up since the hospital for after surgery so unfortunately I have no advice except to call your doctor or nutritionist. You need to get something in you that stays because it's very dangerous otherwise. Good luck and I hope you find the answer.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
