So, I had the sleeve done on 5/4. I was under the impression that weight would be falling off of me, but im only down 8 pounds. I dropped 19 on the presurgical diet and seem to be at a standstill already. Medical team says I'm doing fine but I'm frustrated, almost regretful. Anyone else have a similar experience? Please tell me I'm not alone...

Everyone loses differently. Some people lose a ton of weight in the beginning, and it trails off; some lose less in the beginning, then it picks up; some lose easily and evenly the whole time; some lose slowly the whole time. The important thing to remember is that, if you follow your plan? You WILL lose weight. It doesn't matter what the scale says - scientifically, mathematically, the weight will come off. Your body is still very swollen, it went through quite a bit of trauma, and it will take months before it is fully healed. There are so many things happening inside you right now that are throwing off your weight. My advice? Get off the scale. It will drive you mad in those early days. Stick to your plan, and let your doctor weigh you. Good luck :)

You have just had major surgery. Your primary goal is healing. You were filled with IV fluids and have lots of swelling. As far as I am concerned, the numbers on the scale in the first few weeks after surgery are basically worthless.

Early out I only weighed at my doctors appointments. As you heal you will see changes on the scale.< /p>

Just a warning. None of us lose at a constant or steady rate. We all experience stalls and slow downs in weight loss. Just about everyone experiences a stall about three weeks after surgery.

Just be patient.

Focus on healing and following your program.

Track your food.

Make sure you get at least 64 oz of Fluid.

Make sure you meet your Protein goal every day.

Avoid starches, added sugars, and fried foods.

Take your Vitamins and supplements as directed.

Exercise when cleared.

And, stay off the scale.

Embrace the Stall

No you aren't alone.

Your story is just like mine. Started at 225 then lost 17 pounds on the 2 week pre-opt diet.

208 day of surgery on 5/3 then the day after surgery 5/4 i was down to 200. Then i didn't lose anything till two days ago so far it's been a lost of 2 pounds. I hope it will continue at this rate of a pound a day.

But I was at this stall for 10 days and frantically searching sites to see why I wasn't losing. My surgeon says I'm just fine & that some people don't lose weight at first but then their body's start dropping weight quickly. But i was expecting anywhere between .5-1 pound lost a day right after surgery. I'm hoping the stall is over for a while so i can hit a goal of 25 pounds down in the first month.

Best of luck to you!

Same boat here... I actually signed up to the site for this reason. I had my surgery on 4/21...lost nothing during the pre liquid diet.

But lost 27 lbs in first 2.75 weeks. Now I have been stalled for a week. Starting to panic. Surgeon said if no change for 2 weeks then come in.

Just as an aside, I get about 70-80 grams of Protein in a day usually through shakes, about 15k steps in daily and don't judge me, have been lifting weights since 1 week out. I am burning at least 2500 more calories then I consume each day... help!!!????

@@tonetone your Dr cleared you to lift weights at 1 week out?

If you are creating that much of a calorie deficit every day, then you might be throwing your body into starvation mode.

No he still hasn't cleared me...I just had this feeling that my body was going to turn to mush...so I have been working out. Hell I was on a tractor mower 4 days after surgery. I never took the pain killers so ok to drive. Felt somewhat born again.

I was thinking same thing...dr hasn't confirmed it though. I just get restless...so I walk, and shop (another story for another thread).

Wow, I am surprised you didn't wind up with herniated incisions.

A colleague lost 54 lbs in first month, so I feel like I failed...

You really can't compare yourself to other people. You have no idea what they are doing to lose weight.

A lot of people that post here have lost a lot in the first month but they were barely getting 500 calories a day.

Slow and steady is just as good as losing fast.

I tested it started with general stretching and progressively built it up. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone, and I probably should have kept my mouth shut. I just felt like I knew my body well enough to test. Plus prior to surgery I was lifting 4x week...didn't want to lose my core strength.

Just to bring it back to the OP...the other feedback my surgeon and nurse/ nutritionist gave me was to stop obsessing and stop weighing myself for a few days. It seems to contradict what we were told in the classes but my Dr says the rules change a bit when you are Type A. We will see.…

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
