Yey!!! ????????????

I drank 55 ounces today. Not 64 yet, but I know there's still tomorrow! How is everyone else doing with their fluids?

I have been so blessed to not have experienced nausea. Not even one tiny gag. I'm very grateful for that.

I've managed to get my Protein in but not quite there yet with the Water. I have not experienced any gas pains or nausea :)

Last night I wanted something fun so I grabbed a sugar free popsicle, boy was that delicious!!!!!

It's been 6 days since I've had a BM.....I guess I'm ok with that. I haven't felt the need to go yet.

Keep up the good work everyone, oh, and for the couple of you that have shat yourself .....I would take that any day over being constipated. I have not experienced Constipation on this journey but I have experienced it in the past, it's horrible.

That's great @@Pup if your lack of BM isn't giving you terrible gas like it did me, then you're doing great!

I just started taking my Vitamins and my alarm rings every 6 hours. I'm going back to sleep now.

ON ANOTHER NOTE:

I never realized until today that we have a very good thing going here. I've been to other forums on this app and they're littered with people who are immature and sarcastic. I mean sarcastic to the level of bullying. It's just terrible. Why be a part of any forum with that attitude?

I'm so happy to have all of you here participating.

Also, am I the only one, or is anyone else extremely frustrated being a grow up woman/man and pooping their pants?!?! Twice today. I'm beginning to wonder if they have me on too many laxitives/stool softeners.

Nope you are not the only one... I was not on laxatives but still had that happen to me, I thought I was going to pass gas and well... It wasn't gas... Was not fun! Can't trust the farts!
Yep, exactly. I'm in the bathroom yelling for my 14yr old daughter to find me clean underwear. Luckily I don't embarrass easily, but it is not fun in the least. Gonna give it the weekend and then call my doctor if it's no better.

Good Thing you were home.

When it happened to me we were at Lowes, I went there with hubby to do some walking... As soon as it happened I rushed to the restroom to clean myself up, hubby went home to get me clean underwear and pants... Good thing nobody noticed what happened but since then I knew I couldn't trust the farts lol

Onmica...I don't have a date of yet...June 7th I have to see a pulmonary doctor and then be cleared by him...I'm hoping to have my RNY later in June but I'm looking to July so I don't get disappointed again...I thought I would go in May but then they wanted me to see pulmonary doctor to check my chest xray...scar tissue on lung...just to be sure so insurance don't red flag me. I was concerned because I was a smoker so I figure that's what caused it but I've been smoke free for 3 years on June 22nd! Would be nice to have that date for wls. You guys have a wonderful group...wishing I would have had surgery in May!

This message is for anyone who is still throwing up, or has thrown up. As I have said before, I was blessed to not experience nausea.

When I brush my tongue, I am so careful to not go too far so I don't gag. I don't know what happened just now, but I was no where near careful. I brushed like I did before surgery and I gagged once. It was sooo painful that my eyes teared up. So I want to give HUGE kudos to everyone of you who is or has thrown up. You are some tough people. I don't know how I would have done it. You're awesome and you deserve a pat on the back!

I just want to say how awesome this group has been. I feel we have a nice community here! It's also nice we can all go through it around the same time!!!

one step at a time, one sip at a time, one pound at a time.

I agree with, this is an awesome forum! It's been like a lifeline in helping me get through this. Sorry I didn't write yesterday, it was rough one, gas & nausea. I really need to have a BM & I'll be better. I'm just so bloated. I've had Miralax & will try the milk of magnesia. But, don't want to do too much & dehydrate myself when it happens. Overall, I feel good & still blessed to be going through this. But, anyone that thinks we took the easy way out needs to read our forum. This is not for the faint at heart. This forum also shows how strong we are.! :)

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
