Hey all, I was feeling really great most of the day, but within the last hour or so I became super nauseous with a splitting headache. Anyone else experiencing this??

Hey all you newbies to The loser side, what's your favorite Protein shake?

I drink preimer- chocolate and vanilla,

unjury- chocolate splendor and chicken Soup,

muscle milk - chocolate and vanilla flavor and

milk shake bar -vanilla carmel. These are all I've been drinking pre-surgery and just looking to add to my variety

I drink nectar. They have all flavors but I like the chocolate the most. Also I like the pineapple flavored one. It kind of tastes like pina colada. I can't remember the name of that flavor. They also have a Cappuccino just in case I get that coffee craving. I purchased the sampler and tried them all. Most of them are fruity flavors. They're all pretty great. 23 grams of Protein & with fat free lactate milk you'll have at least 30 grams.

My doctor didn't want me to drink concentrated Protein drinks. He told me to find Protein made from isolate. And nectar is not thick and tastes great!

Did he give a reason for no concentrate?

Yes @@ChooChi73

He said that concentrated Protein is not full protein. Only partial. He said I need 100% protein because I will be lacking nutrients as it is & I will need the full benefit of what ever protein i drink. Which is what isolate is. nectar is isolate.

Hey all, I am a week post op today. I started on full liquids(pudding, yogurt, creamed Soups etc.) Yesterday. My NUT said I could have very thinned out cream of wheat, so that's what I had for Breakfast this morning. We'll I'm pretty sure I experienced my first dumping syndrome. I felt faint, nauseous, horrible sweats, diarrhea. Ugh. Probably won't have that again. Creamed Soups settle well though.

On the plus side. I've lost 10 lbs since surgery, and 25 lbs since pre-op diet!!!

one step at a time, one sip at a time, one pound at a time.

Has anyone tried cream of chicken Soups? I had my first today. I didn't have a lot, maybe a tablespoon . I ate it VERY slow and I felt the beginning of a cold sweat. So I stopped. Then I got very sweaty and now I'm in bed trying to relax a little.

Is it too soon to have it at 4 days Post-Op?(or are we at 3 days) Or should I try it again and dilute it a little? I'm just glad it didn't hit me like the first time.

I haven't had cream of chicken, but I've had Tomato and cream of broccoli. With both if them I diluted it with milk. They've settled well so far.

Hello everyone, omg this has been so hard! I was discharged this morning from the hospital but I am sooooo sore and I feel miserable . I miss my kids but i can't take care of them right now so my mom is helping by keeping them while my husband helps me recover. Although i am not hungry I think about food. But the worst part is the soreness, constant rumble in my stomach and the difficulty getting all of my fluids in. I hope everything will get better soon.

I had cream of chicken Soup (strained) while I was still in hospital. I did fine with it...I probably only ate a tablespoon full

Did your doctor send you home with any pain meds? I thought about being brave and not using my pain med, then I decided, what the heck.

I hope you start feeling better real soon.

We are going through the exact same thing, I was sleeved on the 26th, discharged after 1 day.. Pain meds make me sleepy all day, stomach growling and throat rumbling when drinking Water. Zero appetite and miserable.

Ready for this part to be over.

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
