SchexyMomma 0 Posted August 14, 2007 I have pretty good Protein intake... probably the same or even mroe pre-surgery. Yet my hair is falling out like crazy! Could there be another culprit besides protein (lack of)???
cyndilou29 0 Posted August 14, 2007 Could be trauma from the surgery too. It's not uncommon to lose hair over that. Also, you probably have less estrogen now (estrogen is stored in body fat) and an increase or a decrease in estrogen will also cause your hair to fall out. amom 0 Posted August 14, 2007 I have been traveling all summer an when ever I take a shower I have a wad of hair the size of a apricot. I found a shake at GNC thats reallly good. Its made by worldwide, its all Protein. They also carry slyvester stalones pudding, instone, its all protein. The banana cream in both items is REALLLLY good. To finish this off I must say it did help. I drink one shake and eat one pudding everyday, it did make a difference.
mariecarmen 1 Posted August 14, 2007 I lost a lot of hair from the time of my surgery till about 7 months and 70 lbs out. I tried it all--the Biotin, extra Protein, special Shampoo. Nothing seemed to make a difference. After 7 months it just kind of tapered off and now, 11 months from surgery and my hair is back to normal and my loss is no more than it was before. Lots of adjustments for your body to make--weight loss, diet changes, exercise (or not), hormonal shifts. Talk with your doctor but mostly, give things time to level out. WASaBubbleButt 41 Posted August 14, 2007 You have enough Protein stores in your body to last a month or more. If you didn't, you wouldn't have had surgery as it would have shown up on your preop labs. People take extra protein, extra Iron, extra Biotin.. none of it matters. It will stop when it stops and it will grow back when it grows back. A bariatric magazine I just read has a bariatric surgeon and he claims that it happens (usually) from months 3-11. It seems to be worse between months 4-6. Join the rest of us, it's spooky and creepy... I know. :girl_hug:
