Do I have to much restriction??

Recommended Posts

Hey ya'll!! Well, the co-ordinator for the lap-band program at my md's office called me back just after she got the message. I told her everything that was going on, she talked to the md, and said for me to get there ASAP. So my supervisor let me leave work early and off I went. They took me right back - weighed me (lost 7 pounds since Monday!) then right into an exam room. When he came in, lots of questions on what was going on, etc, and he said that some fill needed to come out. So he stuck me trying to access my port - I could feel the needle moving around, etc...but he couldn't gain access. :( It was really beginning to hurt so he numbed me up and after 2 more tries and lots of maneuvering/pushing on my port - success!!:clap2: I had just a "tad" over 9.5cc in my band (nurse told me the max is 12.5cc) so I was pretty full. He took out almost 1cc so I have just over 8.5cc's now. He had me drink some Water and eat a cracker before I could leave. I could still feel some restriction but thankfully no pain! :whoo: I left the office and headed for the nearest place I could find for a glass of iced tea! I ate a little when I got home and did fine! So I guess my "problem" has been fixed!

Thanks for all the input, advice and support! You guys ROCK!!:)

Have a good night everyone! I plan on crashing soon and getting plenty of :notagree .

Love you all -

Susan

i started in feb with my surgery, i have the 10cc vg, and today on 8-30-07 had my 4th fill to make 8ccs total. i can swallow liquid and soft food no problem. if you are having trouble with liquid you are too tight. I would have a little removed, dont wanna get dehydrated ya know.

since feb i have lost 45 lbs and 2 months ago i actually gained weight, but last month lost 5lbs. its been a struggle for me to lose weight, hasn't come easy for me. but im doing it im just a little impatient with myself sometimes.

remember you have to wear your lap band not your dr.-so get a restriction thats comfortable for you

hey hum-the same exact thing happend to me...I had to leave work to hussle over to the docs office, they tried to locate my port and after poking at me 3 times, she ended up giving me local and it took her another 10 minutes to find the port. It hurt so bad and now I'm all black and blue!

I refused to let them do my second fill after they told me it was mandatory. I'm loosing weight consistently and I'm not hungry. I don't understand why the doctors can't listen to us more. I am so glad I didn't let them bully me into it after reading about too much fill. Thanks.

Terri - I am SO glad it's taken care of too. I was really beginning to feel pretty low...even hard to concentrate!! After he had me drink some Water and eat a cracker with no problem...I went straight to a drive-thru and got a glass of iced tea! Boy was it good!!

Yeah, I've been taking it really easy...yogurt, DanActive yogurt drinks yesterday. Today I had some really really tender moist chicken (chewed extremely well) and some stewed squash.

Thanks for your help!

Susan

MANDATORY? Never heard of THAT! That doesn't even make sense! Glad you stuck to your guns.

my doctor tells me to come in whenever i feel that i need a fill and then he asks me how much am i eating and a whole bunch of questions to determine how much i need and he will ask me how much i want in. The team of Doctors here in Bakersfield, Ca are very good and really care about us patients.. At our monthly support groupd at the hospital all the surgeons show up to check on all of us also... But I am glad all of you are doing good:clap2:

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
