Hi everyone! I'm new here! I was sleeved on 5/12 and so far, so good. I was told that after surgery, it might be hard to get in my 64 oz. of liquid because I'd be too full, but I'm actually finding it hard to get any liquids down because of nausea. I'm trying to drink regularly, but after ever sip, I think the residual gas starts to move around and I get a really nauseous feeling. It goes away pretty quickly, but I don't know how I can drink enough with this feeling. Could someone tell me if this is normal? And if it is, do you know how long it takes for the nausea to go away? I'd hate for it to feel like this forever. Thank you in advance!

Did your surgeon give you anything for nausea? If not - you may want to ask for something. It's so important to get your fluids in - or you'll get dehydrated (which I'm sure you know). You could also try taking an acid reducer to see if that helps but you may need something like Zofran for nausea. The other thing to try is drinking liquids at different temps and see if that causes less problems. Some can tolerate cold while others need room temp or warm. Hope you feel better soon. Don't hesitate to contact your surgeon if you don't get any better.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
