ekmoll 0 Posted May 14, 2016 Hi everyone! I'm new here! I was sleeved on 5/12 and so far, so good. I was told that after surgery, it might be hard to get in my 64 oz. of liquid because I'd be too full, but I'm actually finding it hard to get any liquids down because of nausea. I'm trying to drink regularly, but after ever sip, I think the residual gas starts to move around and I get a really nauseous feeling. It goes away pretty quickly, but I don't know how I can drink enough with this feeling. Could someone tell me if this is normal? And if it is, do you know how long it takes for the nausea to go away? I'd hate for it to feel like this forever. Thank you in advance! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
KristenLe 5,979 Posted May 15, 2016 Did your surgeon give you anything for nausea? If not - you may want to ask for something. It's so important to get your fluids in - or you'll get dehydrated (which I'm sure you know). You could also try taking an acid reducer to see if that helps but you may need something like Zofran for nausea. The other thing to try is drinking liquids at different temps and see if that causes less problems. Some can tolerate cold while others need room temp or warm. Hope you feel better soon. Don't hesitate to contact your surgeon if you don't get any better.
