still hungry after first fill

Recommended Posts

I have gotten my first fill on August 1. I was hungry between meals before that. I haven't had any problem with any foods. I thought I would after the fill but I haven't. I was wondering if anyone is still hungry after first fill. I feel like I am always hungry. HELP!!:help: I did start with a lower BMI and was a self pay. I really never had a big appetite and now it seems I do

VERY common! Don't worry at all, since you are only dealing with the first fill. I didn't feel any difference within three days after my first fill at three weeks from surgery. The second fill was two and a half weeks later, and I felt a significant difference for quite a while. Now my third fill is this Thursday. I'm ready for it...sort of. I think I will REALLY have to slow down my eating after this one, as I have PB-ed several times after the second one with things getting stuck. Everyone's body/band/doctor does differently, though. Keep scheduling those fills if your doc allows. My doc doesn't seem to regulate them at all, from what I can tell.

Thanks Stef! Hopefully I can schedule another fill but it seems my doc wants to go every month. Since I am a self pay my first year of fills were included in my price. I really hope this has no bearing on my fill schedule. Good luck with your next fill.

If you really want and think you need another fill, most docs will consider "upping" the schedule a bit if you are truly adjusted to the first...just a thought.

Good luck to you and let us know how it goes!

Yep! I've only had one fill and it help a little but I am still able to eat too much and feel hungry too often. I'm going in with my hubby today, for his one week post op check. I'm hoping he'll take pity on me and give me another fill a week early. Otherwise, I'm going to ask for Phenteremine again, to get me through!

These first few month, before we get proper restriction, are the pits! But I am SO hopeful that once I get proper restriction, the weight will really start to come off! Hang in there flydove, we'll make it :)

I have the same problem! I thought this was going to be a miracle cure and get rid of the hunger but it actually doesn't seem any better since my first fill. The Dr. said he's very agressive with his fills so that you don't have to have very many but I'm still hungry, I kid with everyone that I'm like a baby and I have to be fed every 2 hours or my stomach growls to the point of painful. I'm very careful not to drink 1 hr before or after a meal and once I start eating I do fill up fast but in no time at all I'm hungry again. Grrrrrr, it's frustrating

I went back to the doctor on Wednesday two week earlier because I felt like my fill had been unfilled. It had my first fill was 3cc and when she checked to see how much was in there; it only had 1cc in it. She added 2cc more. It is going better but I still get hungry. She was going to put 3cc but it felt to tight. So she took 1cc out. I hope everything goes better for you. The doctor said that the saline getting out in normal.

Sorry, I'm new at all this but how do they know how many cc's are in there? I've only gone for 1 fill, they did it in the x-ray dept. the Dr never said how much he put in just that he was agressive with his fills and it would be considerably tighter, I, however, can't really tell a diffference, maybe I should give him a call.

Millie, I had to ask my doctor how much they put in there last time because she didn't tell me. To know how much is in there, they pull it out with the needle and then put it back in. Well at least that is how they checked it on me. I hope that helped. But if you feel like it gets worst, I would go in like I did and ask for another fill. It has helped a lot. I really feel it now. I actually pb this morning for the first time. I have to get use to what I can eat now because after the first fill I could eat whatever I wanted. Now I can not. Some things hurt.

I had my surgery five weeks ago and I have been trying my best to eat small portions and I eat and my stomach growls constantly. I have increased my intake and I feel nausios and I sometimes get headaches. What can I do ? Will a band adjustment fix this?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
