AmysShrinking 70 Posted May 14, 2016 (edited) Okay everyone. I was suppose to have bypass 12/15/15 but got pneumonia. Now I am rescheduled for 6/3/2016. It is official I have Bronchitis! Surgery is 3 weeks away. Does anyone know if there is a set period of time doc is going to want me healthy before surgery? I don't want to postpone it again! Daniel2015 262 Posted May 14, 2016 (edited) Wouldn't your surgeon be the best person to ask? It doesn't matter what other people think or what general surgical guidelines exists...it's your surgeon's call. I'd leave a message first thing Monday morning and go from there. WLSResources/ClothingExch 3,444 Posted May 14, 2016 Ask the surgeon. Even if I knew who it is, I would be unable to speak for the individual.
AmysShrinking 70 Posted May 14, 2016 (edited) I was just looking for support in general advice or words of wisdom from someone who has been through something like this. It is Saturday and I already planned on calling first thing Monday morning. Ask the surgeon. Even if I knew who it is, I would be unable to speak for the individual. Why would I expect anyone to speak for my surgeon? Anyone who goes on here expecting professional advice, shouldn't. I guess I'm hurt that people thought I was ignorant enough to expect professional advice. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I don't see where anyone was being negative. They were simply answering your question, Really, your surgeon is the only one who can answer your question. I know it is frustrating, but you do want to be as healthy as possible going into this surgery. You certainly don't want to be coughing much at all post-op, let alone experiencing deep racking coughing. Your abdomen will be sore enough. Plus, your lungs need to be strong. Just have faith that even if your surgery is postponed, it is for the best, Please take care of yourself and get some rest in the meantime.

Daniel2015 262 Posted May 15, 2016 I fail to see any negativity from anyone, myself included. You asked: If anyone knew of a set period of time that your doctor would want you healthy for.... That is asking for responders to provide you with medical advice. You were directed to the one person who could answer the question-your doctor. I think your being overly sensitive and asked for advice that you claimed to already know-so, not sure what you wanted or expected??? You seemed more concerned with getting a surgery than going into that surgery fully healthy. I simply tried to offer advice that you requested. Titling your post "Help! Need advice!" And then criticizing people who took time to address your request is...., well, I'll leave that up to you to decide. :-/ Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Daniel2015 262 Posted May 15, 2016 So you're "cleared" to comment on our comments but we're not to respond? I think you should take your own advice and send your "kind words" and not scold anyone. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

carol1019 11 Posted May 15, 2016 Have some people forgotten the meaning of "support group"? I thought this group was supposed to support each other before and after surgery and not ask for a diagnosis on an issue! That is why we have pc docs and surgeons. Please people ! heather5565 959 Posted May 15, 2016 (edited) Oh man that sucks! The thought of it already being post poned once and now MAYBE again!? Heartbreaking for you, I'm sure! But you know what? It's three weeks away - if you're on good antibiotics your bronchitis could be fully cleared up in a week. Two max. With hopefully a week to spare in good health again! So let's hope you are or get on antibiotics really quick and kick that bronchitis to the curb! Good luck again let us know what the surgeons says Edited May 15, 2016 by heather5565
