cberryspo.wa 3 Posted May 13, 2016 Ok so I just found out that my insurance covers the surgery so I still have a lot of hoops to Jump through before I'm approved but I meet with my doctor next week to start the process. I am 28 and 330 lbs and only 5'3" I've been big my entire life since I was a child so I've never know what it feels like to be skinny or anything but obese. I never thought I would be able to afford this surgery so I an beyond happy and scared and nervous to be able to finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. I have pcos and from my weight I have a lot of back and knee problems. I read everyone's stories and it feels un real that I can lose that much weight finally. I would love to hear everyone's journey the bad and good from start to finish how much you've lost and still have to lose what the diet is like any and all info is very appreciated Sent from my SM-N910T3 using the BariatricPal App

Bufflehead 6,358 Posted May 14, 2016 Hi Cberry, In some ways my starting stats were pretty similar to yours, at least in terms of BMI and the fact that we have/had been obese all our lives. I had my surgery almost 3 years ago. I've lost roughly 220 lbs. I had no complications and an easy recovery. My knee pain and back pain are gone. My blood pressure is normal. I am so much more active! And the freedom of being able to go anywhere I want without worrying about whether I will fit into a seat or a booth or through a turnstile or whatever is amazing. My bariatric team has a very strict diet and conservative progression. I won't bore you with all the details because chances are your plan will be different -- every surgeon is different, it seems like! But it's important that you commit to following the plan. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise, losing weight and being successful with weight loss surgery is hard work! But it makes it possible if you are willing to put in that hard work. For me, being a normal weight and having a healthy life had always been impossible without it. Good luck to you!

TJs_Dad2012 246 Posted May 14, 2016 My insurance covered 90%. I jumped on it. Started everything in January at 370, RNY surgery on April 27th at 319. I'm down under 300 and loving it. Some discomfort some days but it reminds me I changed my life for the better. Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App
