Nettie 1 Posted August 13, 2007 Well, I am new to this site and I have recently attended the seminar on the lap band procedure. I am scared to death to be honest . I am 32 years old and have struggled with my weight for many years now. I guess you could say I've hit rock bottom . I find it hard to play with my kids, I'm embarrased to go out to see old friends, I'm just tierd of the struggle. I decided that I wanted to make a life long change. Any advice I could get would be great. I have a consult scheduled for Aug. 28th. I pray this is the help and the answer I've been looking for. I'm willing and ready to do the work it takes and to make the changes I need to make. I just can't do it alone. I've tried and failed so many times now. I need ! RAYSBABE 1 Posted August 13, 2007 I had surgery on May 3, 2007.....it was the best decision I have ever made as far as weight loss is concerned.....I am absolutely loving the new, shrinking me. I have lost 38 pounds and I still haven't had a fill. You have to make sure it is what is right for you.....in my case it definately was. I am no expert only being three months out of surgery, but I am loving my new life!
littleroo1 0 Posted August 13, 2007 You don't have to do it alone! Do your research, stay here, ask questions. You will find that path that is right for you! Did something at the seminar bother you? Good luck!

TerriDoodle 6 Posted August 14, 2007 I posted a poll a long time ago called "Would you do it again?" ... out of 325 respondents, 91% said they would. 91%. That speaks volumes for the band! You won't regret it.... well, there's a 91% chance you won't regret it, anyway! I love, love, love my band!!!
Nettie 1 Posted August 14, 2007 The seminar was great! Gave me that extra motivation I needed to help make my decision. I've been through 5 surgeries due to female problems and surgery just scares me. I just decided that after everything I've read and how I feel at 240 pounds is not acceptable to me anymore. I want to make a change and I am so glad I found this site. Thanks for your comments.

goodnurse 0 Posted August 16, 2007 I have dealt with my weight for the past 25 years, and have tried about every diet there is without long term success. I was banded on 7-30-07 and have more hope with this than ever before. I do not feel hungry all the time anymore. :whoo:
lizster2007 0 Posted August 18, 2007 Hi Nettie, I was banded yesterday and am glad I did it. I was apprehensive about this procedure too and it took me several months to decide. I think if you are truly ready to change (and the band is a tool, rather than a weight loss silver bullet), then the discomfort and stringent eating before and after the surgury will be worth it. Good luck with your decision!

CopOut 0 Posted August 20, 2007 I had lap band surgery 3 1/2 weeks ago and I already know it will be a life changing experience. I have found the process much more difficult psychologically than physically, but it's getting easier every day.
