ikarri 9 Posted May 13, 2016 (edited) I had my surgery in January at age 47. I had a staph infection and surgery for that 2 weeks post op, and then 1 month after that had a surgery for twisted bowel. I'm 4 months out, down 56 lbs and ALL of my health issues have resolved. It's so worth it, but I've only felt that for the last month. I was so sick and in pain, and have had such new dietary issues that I wanted to die. If I'd had the energy I wouldn't be here. Now that I've accepted that I can only eat Vegan, the pain from eating is basically gone; which means I'm finally enjoying my husband hugging me and calling me "skinny"! ikarri 9 Posted July 25, 2016 Congratulations on your recovery and your looking fabulous, do you know if your twisted bowel was caused by the surgery? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Yes it was. It's something they watch for. It was twisted at the new attachment site of the small intestine. Surgeon put some mesh around it to keep it from twisting and I've been fine since. I've just been diagnosed with a kidney stone (a few days ago), and this is also something that is not uncommon with gastric bypass. I have my 6th month appointment today. Even with all that has happened I feel good about the decision, still. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
