80 grams of protein, 64oz of water AND food in one day?

Recommended Posts

This sounds overwhelming to me. Maybe it's actually not very hard to do and I'm making a big deal out of nothing, but with a teeny tiny stomach, I don't understand how I can fit all of this in?
Are you guys able to do it with no problems?

True. I did read that the Protein Shakes I drink that will add up to 80 grams of Protein will cover 32oz of Water, however I still have a whole other 32 more ounces of water to go before I'm done for the day. That's not even mentioning when I'm on solid foods.

Small sips all day. If you're allowed - you can drink milk, broth, etc to count towards your Water intake. Someone on another thread just said they have a timer that goes off every 15 mins to remind them to drink.

I like the timer idea. Do you think sipping every 5 minutes would be too much in a short amount of time?

You will. It be able to do this for the first few weeks. Your goal is to get in as much as possible because you do not want to dehydrate. NOTHING will taste good or seem appetizing the first few days, then you will think you are hungry, but a sip of something fills you. I bought the small bottles of Isopure Protein Drinks in grape in case of vomiting on Amazon (also at GNC) and combined my Protein and liquid with that. I could not drink Water for the first two months after surgery and even at 11 months I find it hard to tolerate at times. My surgeon also said I could drink Powerade Zero, which I now live on.

Wow, I didn't think I might not be able to even tolerate water! That's something to consider!

I will second what Go Blue said. Everyone is different. I have been drinking water/eating ice chips since I woke up from surgery. I had severe cotton mouth from the anti-nausea meds. At first you won't get that much in, but was you heal and your swelling goes down you will be able to eat and drink more. It sounds impossible now, but most, if not all, of us do it regularly. :)

I've had trouble with getting everything down. My advice to you would just be go at your own pace and don't force anything. I barely had anything the first week (besides clear liquids) and I was okay. Just go at your own pace, there are no supposed to's :)

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
