@@shamale - Pain meds can often make you nauseous (even non-WLS patients). Couple of suggestions - make sure you have a little Protein shake (or whatever food you are allowed to consume) and maybe try only taking 1/2 the dose? You can even take 1/2 the dose with a small dose of children's liquid Tylenol. (ONLY do this if you only take 1/2 of the Norco dose as Norco also has Tylenol in it and you don't want too much Tylenol). If that still makes you nauseas, ask your dr to prescribe Zofran (sublinqual so it melts under your tongue) and you can take the Zofran with or slightly before the pain med to prevent the nausea. If all of that doesn't work, you can try different pain meds like Tramadol (not near as strong though). Good luck! Don't be afraid to call the dr if you need to!

Thanks! I spoke to the nurse and she told me to put some Protein on my tummy. I sipped a little bit of the narco but I'm not going to chug down a whole dose I was advised not to take Tylenol because there is some mixed in with the narco. I feel a bit better after those few sips.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
