LibrarianBecky 91 Posted May 11, 2016 I'm just starting my 3rd week post op, so I'm not eating out anywhere at this point. However, at some point when I'm eating regular food, I'm sure I will eat out again. What kinds of things do you eat when you eat out? Do you have any favorite meals or places or even strategies to share. My family and I don't eat out a ton, in general. We do some takeout meals, but sit down restaurant meals are once a month or less. I'm trying to think of "go-to" things to order from some of our typical take out places. Here is what I've brainstormed so far: Chinese: hot and sour Soup, maybe chicken teriyaki skewers. Pizza: ummm...maybe salad with chicken. Or pizza toppings? Not sure. Mexican: fajitas with a Protein, no rice. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
KristenLe 5,979 Posted May 12, 2016 Alot of places have a light menu these days. I am still pre-surgery but have been checking. Chili's has a few options. I had the 6oz sirloin with a veggie side (don't need to eat whole dinner). I've also noticed alot of places have salmon dinners now (I don't eat it though). I also have seen bun-less burgers or turkey burgers with a side salad. Most places will have nutritional information online so you can plan ahead. There's always Soup if you can't find something else.
Pedro Valle-Inclan 275 Posted May 12, 2016 Hi, I'm 3 months and a week post-op and I'm on fork soft phase, so anything I can cut with a fork I can eat. And in reality I can eat most things, but the thing is I try to either share Entrees or order half portions and I STILL end up taking a lot home. It's great though a bit odd as I can eat so little and that's great. - it's the behavior modification I wanted when signed up for this.I even ask for salad plates because it looks so odd to see this, say, chicken curry and rice but it's around 4 to 6 ounces of it in the middle of a large plate. So point is there's NO problem at all eating out, only problem is in the head
LibrarianBecky 91 Posted May 12, 2016 You make a good point about it being in my head. There is a lot more mental work to this than I anticipated. I'm up to the challenge, but it surprised me a bit at first. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
