Welcome, welcome,

Oh I bet those mountains are beautiful. California is one place I've never been but do want to see so bad. I loved the mountains in Monterrey Mexico where I was banded.

Hope everything is going great for you and congrats on your banding. This is the best place in the world for support and info.

Hugs,

Sherri Jo

Hello there!

I only found this site a few days ago. I live in England. Had my band fitted on 31st March 2007 and so far have lost 35lbs. Some lose fas some slower. How are you feeling?

I really feel fine. I almost feel guilty for how easily I went thru the surgery. I did not need any pain meds at all and was up and walking within two hours of the surgery. It took a good 12 hours to get the anesthesia out of my system.

I am some what nervous about the wait time for the first fill.

I wish I could get it done now.

Hello and congrats on the band! Was banded 27 July and have lost about 8lbs....restriction tends to go so don't worry about that. I am really looking forward to my first fill just to get that feeling of restriction back - I was losing until my pouch turned into the grand canyon almost over night last week! I have been heartened by some of the posters here though - apparently the weight loss can slow for a few weeks until the 'sweet spot' is attained through one or more fills. Good luck on the journey and remember to check in on the forum - it is a life saver when you feel down or confused!

Im glad you are feeling good. I was also up immediately as my surgeon insisted on it as soon as I woke up so my bum never touched the bed!!

Don't worry about the time before the fill you will probabaly gave some restriction. Just make sure u eat slowly and listen too the band. You will be fine

Best of luck to you!! That first fill will come soon enough..You need time for the swelling in your stomach to go down. I was banded 3/26/07, have lost 45 lbs and proud of it!! I have had 3 fills and go for #4 on 8/27..My 3rd fill was just alittle tweek, but its time for alittle more.. Anyway, good luck and keep us posted..

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
