beylove 22 Posted May 11, 2016 Why is it suggested not to drink while eating? I'm currently having a baked chicken leg for dinner and I'm thirsty. I believe the rule is to wait 30min before you drink. Is this true? Why? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Birdland 14 Posted May 11, 2016 Hi there it's so you don't interfere with the way the band works.. Drinking Water when eating lets the food go through too quickly... It doesn't allow stimulation of the vagus nerve which is a huge part of how the process works. U should have a drink ten mins b4 and then wait for 30 mins after Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Onmywaytothinagain 29 Posted May 11, 2016 Actually it is because you need to get your Protein in first and not fill up on liquids. Your stomach capacity has been greatly reduced and it is very important that you get your food in. If you've had GSV then it has nothing to do with the band.
