At least you are going in the right direction. Just keep on plan and you will get there. Not sure what your starting weight was, but you are way ahead of where I was. I think I was right around 25 pounds down at 4 months out. I'm now 12 pounds below goal. Remember the rate at which you lose has nothing to do with the end result and long term success.

I think losing 39 pounds in that time period is fantastic progress. Focus on what you've accomplished, and take pride in it instead of diminishing it by comparing yourself to others. We're all at different ages, and have different starting BMIs, frame sizes, metabolisms, and activity levels, and we have unique goals. Some people have lost more weight in eight weeks than I have in my eight months since surgery, but this isn't like some race where everyone starts off at the same place, runs the same course, and there's a prize for being the fastest. You are the only one leading your life, and the only person you should compare yourself to is who you were in the past. I know that I'm much happier, healthier and more confident than I was this time last year. For me, losing weight at a slower pace has actually had benefits. I haven't lost much hair, and my skin has become firmer as I've toned, and isn't loose at all. My eating habits are sustainable for me long-term instead of being so restrictive I feel deprived. I feel confident this weight loss is for good instead of weight that will yoyo right back onto me. Hopefully you'll have similar benefits.

I've also stalled for lonnnng stretches of time. Upping my calories actually helped me to break it. If you're not already tracking your meals and Snacks on something like MyFitnessPal, then start recording them. Try experimenting with variating your calories and your carb intake, and see if that makes a differences. If you're not very active, try adding in more activity. You don't have to join a gym. One of my best investments was a good bike that I now use to get to and from work, and to run errands. Instead of buying our groceries for the whole week, I bike up to the farmer's market or the grocery store and get a day or two's worth. It was an easy, enjoyable change that has helped. Okay, I think your expectations are unreasonable and the pressure you are placing on yourself is not helping. I advise erasing the word "only" from your vocabulary. Sounds to me like you are doing great -- stalls where your body hangs on to Water weight are completely normal. Be proud of yourself for doing so well. From my perspective, I see excellent progress. That's great progress. If you feel like you are retaining Water -/watch your sodium (often high in low cal prepared foods) and drink more water. Don't compare yourself to others - you lost 39 lbs in 4 months - that's awesome!

My intention of this post is for positive feedback. It's not that I'm comparing myself to others, I'm reaching out for ideas that maybe I haven't thought of. I haven't been on this site for a while and now I remember why, because of all the critics and perfect people.

It sounds like you are going in the right direction. Have you talked to your surgeon and your NUT about your concerns? Are you on track based on their expectations?

We all lose at different rates: some of it based on starting weight, activity level, age, other medical issues, metabolism, etc.

What exactly are you doing?

Are you tracking your food?

Are you getting AT LEAST 64 oz of Fluid every day?

Are you getting in all of your Protein every day? What is your Protein target? (Mine is 100 grams a day.)

Are you taking your Vitamins and supplements as directed?

Are you avoiding starches, added sugars, and fried foods?

Are you exercising? (Are you eating enough to support your exercise intensity?)

Are you getting enough restful sleep every night?

Have you measured yourself lately --- are you losing inches?

Without more detail it is hard to give feedback/suggestions that might be helpful for you.

I never said there wasn't any positive feedback, I said that's all I'm looking for. My NUT isn't being very helpful at this point. So please don't take my reply in a negative way. Sorry if you're confused.

the thing about an internet forum is you are going to get *all* kinds of feedback. take the time to invest in this community and be open and you will get back more than you put into it.

I only saw helpful answers. You have lost a lot of weight. I also retain Water, and my doctor wants to wean me off my diuretic due to my blood pressure is normal now. I am scared of that! but it needs to happen. so I will bravely march forward. it may stall me for "weight" loss but I doubt it will stall my "fat" loss, and really, at the end of the day, isn't it the fat loss that matters?

the scale is only one measurement. keep going, and try not to compare your journey to other people's journey.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
