bottomsup! 4 Posted May 11, 2016 I know there has to be others out there. I am scheduled for my sleeve on Monday. I am worried about how long it will take me to be able to care for my toddler after surgery. This may sound dumb, but will it be hard to get down on the floor for diaper changing and back up? If you had someone to help you care for your toddler/baby, how long did you need them for? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
eclecticwingtips 130 Posted May 11, 2016 I am 5 days post op. I have minimal pain but no way i could get down on the floor and back up. Three muscles on my right side were cut and stitched. Plus lifting the litgle people would be a no no Sent from my SM-T350 using Tapatalk
bottomsup! 4 Posted May 11, 2016 That's what I'm worried about. I can get by without lifting her, as she is capable of getting up and down on furniture and such. But the necessities of caring for her, it's something I worry about. My husband will help at first, but he can only take a few days off of work. grandmaofone 411 Posted May 11, 2016 My surgery was on Monday came home from Hospital on Wednesday, I run a home daycare and was back on my own on the following Monday. Took awhile to get up and down off the floor, but my one year old grandson also loved to sit on my lap so I just put him on the right side. You should be fine a few days later. My hospital stay was longer because I found out I was allergic to Morphine:(
bottomsup! 4 Posted May 11, 2016 I'm amazed at how quickly everyone seems to recover. Praying for the same outcome!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
nmr83 19 Posted May 11, 2016 I am having surgery Monday also and have a 2 year old boy to take care of who well exceeds the weight limit I am allowed lifting. So hopefully things go smoothly after surgery. He has been pretty clingy the past couple of weeks only wanting me so this will be interesting. Good luck!
