Things you find more challenging after losing weight...

Recommended Posts

Shaving my legs and armpits!! I feel like a contortionist sometimes. We learn to do things certain ways being obese. Another one is getting in and out of my van. I need to hop in now [emoji12]

I second the leg shaving! I haven't had so many razor cuts since my early teens. All of those new bones cause highs and lows that make you really have to pay attention.

I'm also finding longer car rides more difficult with the weight loss as well. Any long periods of sitting really. I used to have a lot more padding and it was never an issue. Now when I sit how I always have I can really feel the pressure points. I'm learning that it's more comfortable to lean forward more to distribute the weight across the back of my thighs.

Thanks for the tip! I'll give the Intuition a try after I run out of my Venus blades.

The thing I find hardest is wearing my underwire bras. Before I just popped them in and went, but now they are deflated and they flip out the sides and I have to grab a wad of saggy skin and pull it to the front and tuck it in the cup otherwise I get these creepy bulges out of my side like I've grown a head on either side of me. I was fitted recently. The problem is massive amounts of hanging skin that needs to be pulled in unfortunately.

I recommend a full coverage Vanity Fair back smoother bra. I realize it's not the back that needs smoothing but it does an amazing job with the sides as well and has thick contour cups.

It's called Beauty Back Smoother and it's awesome

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
