gettingsleeved1 79 Posted May 10, 2016 Poll: I've been considering making YouTube vlogs, but would probably blur my face out. Would you personally watch a vlog when you couldn't see what the person looked like? Only their body? Or would it be too boring? Thanks for the input. (It would be about my journey with weight struggles and following through my vsg surgery when I get it) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
pinkfatcupcake 2 Posted May 10, 2016 Same here! I have an Instagram where I want to track my progress, but I don't want to show my face #secretsleever I'd watch it! It's about content! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
SleevePlease2016 6 Posted May 12, 2016 I wouldn't probably. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't do it! If you want to, do it! Do it for you! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
gina171 626 Posted May 12, 2016 No I definitely would want to see the face.... Plus, if I was a little unsure about the process, and I went to YouTube to learn more from actual patient stories but they blurred out their face....it kind of maybe implies that there is something to be ashamed of? I hate to use that word, but it would send me the silent message that this is something I shouldn't feel proud of doing. If we were talking hip surgery, or even a heart surgery, would you hide your face? Showing your face makes me feel more connected to you, and really connecting with you and your message helps me relate it to my situation. Show your beautiful face.....you're doing a wonderful, brave thing. :-) Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
gettingsleeved1 79 Posted May 13, 2016 I am ashamed, that's exactly why I want to do it. I want others to know that even if they feel ashamed too, they can do it! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Read2016 658 Posted May 13, 2016 I just feel showing the face gives the information more credibility, something about faceless video would make it anonymous. At least for me I think the face helps the viewer develop the personal connection with person presenting the information. GranadoM74 41 Posted May 13, 2016 There's a lot of YouTube WLS channels and most show their faces. I've been doing videos - I've done like 5. The only "secret" part is that I've disconnected my WLS Social Media with any of my personal ones. There's a very slim chance that anyone that knows me personally is going to find them, I'd imagine. And if they do, they were searching for information about it, which is great and won't be weird/embarrassing. Show your face!
