Hi Im Michelle,

Im still trying to figure the website. I was curious if there is anyone in the Bay Area that would be interested in being support buddies. Im just starting my journey and need to lose weight before the scheduling of the date, I just would like to have someone to touch base with and possibly someone going thru and has been thru the same. I struggle with food as we all do. Hope everyone has a great day!

Michelle

Hi Michelle, my name is Karen.

I am wondering if you have found anyone to be your support buddy? I also have to lose some weight before I can get a date for surgery. I've been trying for about 6 months. But I've been on a roller coaster. Well if you still need a buddy please let me know. We can talk if you'd like. Thanks Karen.

Hi Karen, how are you? I'm still in the lose before they make a date. I believe I need somewhere between 13 and 15 lbs to lose. How long have you been on the program. Would love to keep in touch. Talk to you later.

That's great! Well this is my third time being in the program. First 2 times I chickened out. I was scared to have all the excess skin, and others I knew gained all their weight back. This time I have a grandson I would love to do more things with and want to be around longer with him. so I'm having trouble with my WL because I've gone through a lot and have trouble with the stress eating. my daughter's father had decided to leave after 23 yrs, and I made a poor choice on quiting a job I loved. Due to some issues. So I've been working on the depression issues. To get my WL back on track I had been 15 lbs away of getting a date but gained it back. So I'm starting again with the wl. I do have a sister that has done the sleeve but she really doesn't say much of anything to me except oh you'll feel a lot better after you get your surgery. Doesn't really seem to want to help. So I am just trying to reach out and talk with others that are doing good. and try to get some of what works for them. How they stay with it. I know I want a healthier lifestyle for me. I just need to take time for myself. and not worry about everyone else. Well sorry for rambling on. It's felt good to have been able to talk to someone else and hear they are doing good on their journey. So keep up the good work and hit your first goal for a date. And please let me know when you find it out. Would love to hear about your progress. To inspire me to do the same.

Thanks again

Karen

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
