So I just started to date this amazing guy but this is so hard when going out to dinner with him. I stay in my protons sizes but like the other night I ate eggplant parm.1/4 and then took a slip of a shot and then had 1/4 of coffee. This is so hard. What do I do? I am also having a hard time with drinking and eating at the same time now. Ugh I was doing so great then he came in the picture,

maybe, for now, find dates that do not involve eating? anything else you two have in common?

If you feel that there is a potential future with this guy then I would tell him about the surgery and your eating situation. Also as Christinamo said maybe try to do some things that don't involve food.

I am in a divorce process and will have to start dating at some point myself. I have this same worry about going out with someone to a restaurant

@@Lisa_85 If he doesn't already know about your WLS - I would tell him about it. You'll be more comfortable and able to be more yourself than trying to hide it. I think starting off a relationship with keeping something so important about yourself is a bad idea. I'm sure he'll understand - or he should.

When I eat out I usually order any coffee or drinks before the food comes and then just cut myself off once I start eating, by setting the cup/glass out of reach. I'm allowed to drink right up until the time I start eating on my plan (I can't fathom why anyone should have to stop drinking before eating once they are more than a few weeks out from surgery). So that has always worked for me.

@@Lisa_85 - I agree with the others response and like Jamie mentioned ^ you can always move the drinks off the table once you start eating. I order Water to keep from explaining and I sip it until the food arrives.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
