any bandsters in Little Rock, AR?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am a newbie to this site and am only in the "starting to plan" stage. I really want to have the Lap Band. I live in South Central AR and plan to have my surgery in Little Rock. If you do not mind, may I ask who your surgeon was. Thanks,;)

I actually had planned on using Dr. Wellborn but it took them so long to get to my packet, I went with Dr. Luttrell. I have a friend who used him and have heard he's a really good physician. I'm sure you are in great hands. Good luck to you!!!

Hello, I am planning on being banded as soon as I can and plan to use Dr. Wellborn. I have been to one of his seminars and enjoyed it greatly. I could not attend the Walk From Obesity last Saturday but I made a donation and they told me it would count as one of my support group meetings. I am excited about the surgery. I have not actually been in for my first visit yet but hopefully soon.

Hey Arkansans-

My name is Ashley and I was banded on 10/4/07 by Dr. Rex Luttrell. Aside from the expected port soreness and gas pain, I'm doing pretty good. Surgery was on Thursday and it's Monday--I'm back at work!

Good luck to all of you!

Hello, I am anxious to get my band and get started. Dr. Wellborn in Little Rock is my surgeon. I have been to his seminar and have my packet ready to go in. I went to my primary M.D. today and got the lab done and he is going to do the letter of referral and send along with my records to Dr. Wellborn. I am hoping to get to see Dr. Wellborn soon so maybe I can get my band by the last of Nov. or the first of Dec. Brenda

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
