The BEST feeling in the world post op!

Recommended Posts

I'm one week post op and my happy moment is that I haven't had the first back pain since surgery despite not having any anti-inflammatories that I was taking daily before surgery!!

Best feeling in the world was seeing my shadow today and it looked noticeably thinner and less lumpy around the sides. .. then i caught my reflection in the glass doors at work and saw that my legs were getting thinner too...

I thought... hey sexy thang!! Looking good... lol

And thats only at a 22 pound loss!! Imagine when i get to goal!!

I am only a week out, but I have a few that will be my "best feeling ever"

Being able to fit on all rides at an amusement park

Wearing clothes that dont have a 2 in front (unless its a size 2....LOL.)

Being in "onederland"!! I might cry when I finally see that 199, lol

My very best post-op moment is being able to relax.....totally relax......and enjoy nekkid time in a way I haven't in years.

No concerns or fears over where her hands may go.....I was proud of every bit of it. I've never been proud of that state before......now.....I am very relaxed and no fears exist.

TMI ? Possible.....but who has time for PC bullshyt in their post-op lives. It'a all about getting on with the LIVING.

LIVE peoples......I beg you.

Definitely not TMI! I totally understand where you are coming from. Even after being married for 26 years, I'm still very self conscious of my body and all its lumps and bumps. My husband accepts me for who I am, but I've always been rather shy where my body is concerned.

My husband has lost over 80 lbs in the last 4-5 years, and his body has certainly changed as well, but we accept those changes lovingly with each other, and being comfortable in your own skin is so very important.

Live on Dub!!!

I have another one - NOT sweating so much! It used to take NOTHING for me to break a sweat and then it wouldn't stop. Now I have to work pretty hard to sweat!

Ditto on the sweating thing. One of my wishes for after surgery was that I wouldn't be so hot all the time. Was so tired of sweating all the time! Literally the first night home after surgery, I woke up in the middle of the night and was freezing! Freezing to the point of teeth chattering, shaking too. Had to grab another blanket! Since that night, I don't sweat nearly as much as I used to. Now the only time I really sweat is when I'm actually active and working hard. That's the way it should be!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
