:whoo:Hi everyone::clap2:

tomorrow is surgery. all this time working up to this moment. I will be joining you bandsters very soon!

hopefully i won't have to wait a long time for the surgery to begin. I have to be at NYU at 1:00 pm which isn't the best thing. So I hope I go in shortly after that.

Thanks everyone for all of your support.

MisNilsa!!

I guess we may meet up!! Though I have to be in NYU at 7am! and I'm using dr. ren..

I hear all us post-fatties, are on one floor.. so i'll be looking at for a misnilsa in the eve. lol...

Good luck to all!

I'm soo excited.. not as nervous as i thought i would be.. yet...

my anxiety will start a little before i get into the operating room.. i guess that would put me in the "normal" category?? lol..

I have so many wonderful friends callign me today wishing me luck, it's heartwarming. I chose to tell people because i HATE those that do the surgery and then tell people "oh u know just diet and exercise..." uh-huh..

whatever,

g'luck to everyone this week!!! and tomm!

let's all say a little prayer for each other!

I'm back!!! Got out of the hospital today. It went pretty well. I had a couple really bad bouts of nausea, though. I have some pain at the port incision and a little gas pain, but no big deal. I am happy to be home!! Definitely happy to be a bandster!!!!! I can't believe I did it!!!

How is everyone else doing?

Hi Lori,

I'm glad to hear that your surgery went well on Monday. Mine went well, too, and like you, I don't have a lot of pain, just a little soreness, espcially at the port incisiion. Good luck, and I hope our pain-free status continues and that your recover is smooth sailing.

I am still doing well. Pain getting better everyday. I am trying to walk as much as I can. That helps. The hardest part for me right now is getting all my liquids in daily. My doc wants me to get about 2 liters in. I'm doing it, but I have to make a conscious effort. Overall, feeling good, happy and love seeing that weight fall off!!!:clap2:

Lori,

Glad to hear that you're still doing well. I am, too. Like you, the only discomfort that I really feel is when I go from sitting to standing, or anything involving lying down and getting back up. Strangely, my hip flexors hurt the most - I never realized how much your abs were used when standing/sitting, etc. I'm trying to take it easy on my abs, so my hips hurt... I walked a lot yesterday - probably about 20 minutes every two hours, and I walked for about an hour straight earlier in the morning. I'm going to try to do the same today. It's helping get the CO2 out, and it keeps me from getting stiff and sore just sitting around all day.

Best wishes for a continued pain-free and speedy recovery!

B

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
