I'm 5 weeks post RNY and Advil used to be my go-to for headaches, cramps, any aches and pains. I've had a headache for two days now and Tylenol isn't touching it. I know I can't resort to any NSAIDs. What does everyone take for their headaches and aches and pains?

That is a tough one. You can try caffeine with a Tylenol. The caffeine seems to help. And I will confess that I have taken an Advil probably 3 times since surgery. Once when I just could not get rid of the headache. I made sure to take my PPI about 30 minutes before. And the I took an Advil with 2 Tylenol. I AM NOT A DR SO I AM NOT GIVING MEDICAL ADVICE HERE. :D

You can also look up acupressure. There is a spot on your hand between your thumb and forefinger that will sometimes give relief when pressed correctly. You can also try a massage. I had a massage therapist a couple of times be able to relieve my headache. Or lastly, ice pack on your neck will sometimes finally give relief.

I hope some of these suggestions help and/or someone else will weigh in with some natural alternatives for you!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
