What are you eating and how do you feel after eating? Do you feel like you my throw up, or is it a pain in your chest?

I'm able to eat anything according to my doc as long as I chew it to applesauce consistency. I don't feel like I'm going to throw up and it's not pain in my chest. It's on my left side under my rib.

Well that is pain in your stomach. Maybe you need to eat much slower, very small bites. And just because your surgeon says you CAN eat anything doesn't mean you CAN or maybe should; yet. Well chewed steak will probably never be applesauce consistency so for an example I wouldn't be eating it at 5 weeks. chicken also is hard for some also non-moist meats. Stick with softer foods, well cooked veggies and go slow; it's not a race it is definiely a marathon.

@@may.demers Do you think you are dumping? Cereal is full of carbs... maybe that's the problem you're having?

I'm sorry, all that cramping can't be fun!

May.demers when did you have surgery? If anytime recently I agree that cereal is probably a bit much at this stage. I don't eat cereal anymore, and haven't for a good 5-6 years because of the high carb count for cereal. I have eaten low carb for a long time due to my diabetes. Also, did you consider the milk? If the milk is regular milk it has lactose. Could you have become lactose intolerant after surgery? I've seen several people on the forums hear say that they became intolerant after surgery.

Just some things to consider.

From what my friend says about dumping, that sounds about right. I have a liquid diet for 22 days, they baby food style for 2 weeks, then soft foods another 2 weeks before "real" food...and I'm only 14 days out lol

Exactly how my diet was to progress, except for the liquid part. Mine was liquid 1-2 weeks after surgery, pureed 1-2 weeks, soft foods 1-2 weeks, and regular foods after that slowly. I've tried a few regular food items and not going to push it. I've got the rest of my life to get back on the regulars. I'm sticking with soft foods for now. Today I'm actually sticking to Protein shakes because the weather here and my allergies have my whole system feeling bad. So, not going to push anything on my system right now. I am 30 days out.

Try taking your food slowly like take a small bite using a cocktail fork or a baby spoon worth and then wait a full minute between bites. It could be that you are just eating too fast. Also if a good bothers you, just put it to the side and come back and try it again later down the road. The first time I tried shrimp I thought I would die from the miserable feeling, but now at 6 months I find I eat it often because it's good Protein and sits well. chicken or pork however....even at this stage I can't tolerate chicken or pork.

I had mine on April 21 I am having the same issue and I don't know what is the cause of this.... The pain in the chest is crazy and makes me throw up every time I eat so slow and drink so slow... So now I don't want to drink or eat anything I'm afraid... I'm hopping the will end soon and glad I'm not the only one...

I don't have my gallbladder. I don't get chest pain but I get pain in my stomach. I eat super slow too as I chew my food to the point it almost is dissolved. I'm just tired of the pain and hope it subsides with time.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
