Struggling with diet & energy! !

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on 4/12/16. I am back to work, and really struggling with the diet. I prepare my food for the day, and proportion it. But staying on a schedule is hard when your very busy. Trying to eat and drink with that 30 minute rule. Also, has anyone ever heard of your suture popping? My surgeon told me that the biggest incision has a suture inside, and it will eventually pop. Well I still have abdominal pain there so much that I am unable to do alot of things. Still can't power walk or workout. Hurts to twist or strain?

it's such a challenge isn't it? sometimes we are not really allowed the am and pm break we are supposed to have. I just find a quiet minute for my snack, or I TAKE one. not really supposed to have my drink at the front desk, but I stick it behind my monitor. If I am out there, I try to plan a snack that I can put in my cardigan pocket and not just skip it. Now that I can drink more at a time getting in my fluids is much easier, and I am up to 80-100 ounces a day. I say this hoping it will encourage you that it will get easier.

we're learning a *new* way to live and it is just going to take some figuring out!

I wasn't cleared for more than walking until my 1 month follow up, and I kind of remember that pulling pain - so I think you are probably in normal range for that, but if you are concerned please follow up with your team.

Yes, and they just tell me that sometimes it takes a few weeks for that to heal. Trying to be patient!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
