Hey guys,

I was sleeved 10/2014 and am now 5 months pregnant. I hear that most sleevers have cesarean births but we don't know why. Has anyone out there had any sleeve-related complications with pregnancy? Were you able to have a vaginal delivery?

Also, I feel like my OB doesn't really understand my needs. Anyone know of an OB in Maryland who specializes in post bariatric mommies?

Thanks!

I'm sorry I don't have any answers for you, but I'm tuning in as well...hoping to be pregnant sometime next year, so this is valuable information.

You will need to discuss this with your OBGYN. I don't think it is physically impossible to have a vaginal delivery - but from what I've read - they often recommend a c-section for safety reasons. There's also a Forum for Pregnancy after Sleeve that you may find more information in - or get more responses. Good luck!

I was sleeved 1-5-15 At my post op appointment in July 2015, I told my surgeon that I was pregnant. (not planned)

I had a normal pregnancy up until my 36 week checkup. My ultra sound showed that the baby was estimated to be 5 lbs and my amniotic Fluid level was a low normal. My obgyn wanted me to return in a few days for a repeat ultra sound. The amniotic Fluid level was normal but my baby girl was measuring 4lbs 10 oz,

I was sent to labor and delivery to be more closely monitored by my obgyn's partner, (my doctor was out of town)

When I got there, my blood pressure was through the roof. After several hours, it had not gone down any. A urine test revealed that I was spilling Protein. Long story short, I was admitted. I was induced the night before 37 weeks. I had a vaginal delivery with no epidural (my wishes).

Harper Leigh was born on Feb. 16, 2016 weighing 4lbs 11 oz; 17 3/4 in. Perfectly healthy... never went to the NICU and came home on the 18th weighing 4lbs 7 oz. She is now 3 months old and was just over 9 lbs at her two month checkup.

I gained 13 lbs total and the night I got home was down 14 lbs.

Hope this helps.

I was pregnant 9 months after being sleeved. My pregnancy was fine, except for morning sickness the whole time. I was induced at 39 wks and 6 days due to being uncomfortable. They were preparing for a small baby. All my scans came back he was really small. After 12 hrs in labor I had a c section due to his heart rate kept dropping. It was figured out his cord was around the neck. But otherwise came out fine and 7 lbs not the 5 they were preparing for. I would have had a vaginal birth they said but they wanted him out as soon as possible.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
