Question about insurance

Recommended Posts

Ok I have Aetna and my last class was last Monday but I haven't paid the balance I have for my psych evaluation I won't be able to until Tuesday and then they will send all the information to my insurance. But I'm curious about 2 things is there a certain period of time where your insurance is like you've waited to long and have to start the whole process over again ? And 2nd is getting approved easy ? Or do a lot people get denied ?

approval is done based on your insurance company's requirements......do you know what the requirements are, and do you meet the requirements? As long as you meet all the requirements you should be good. If you don't know the requirements you should be able to google your plan's requirements.....or better yet call them and ask them to send you the policy in writing.

As far as the timing that's another question for your insurance company.....but if you're talking days, not months, you should be good with that.

Ditto. I'm sure it depends on your insurance. I have BCBS and was thisclose to finishing my 6 month program when I was diagnosed with cancer. So, I got sidetracked for a bit. (All is good now, just needed surgery), but the good news was, my insurance said my 6 months, tests etc were good for 4 yrs! I would have needed to redo the psych after a year. I only needed about 5 extra months.

@@biglady904 - I backed out of my journey after 1 month into my 3 monthly meetings. I re-started and didn't miss a beat.

I have BCBS Fed with Dr. Uchal.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
