Hard time parting with the fat clothes....

Recommended Posts

Okay, this is funny, but I am reticent to give away my fat clothes. I, like probably many of you, have in the past kept a line of clothes in my closet from size __ to size __ (you know the old "just in case I lose/gain). Of course over the years, the 12's and 14's when by the wayside finally, taken up by the 1x and 2x. But I am now down 30 lbs. and I should be divesting myself of my fat shirts (Lane Bryant bigshirts) and my size 18 pants..... MAN, it's hard to get out of that mentality that I might be back in them... I spent a long time acquiring those big shirts!

I feel the same way! I sold some of my fat pants on ebay, so that made me feel a little better about it, but I think I'll probably always hang on to at least one item that's a size up.

Here's what I always said: if I "ever" get fat again, I'll get some cute new clothes. But this time, "ever" won't happen again - go donate those big clothes because you WON'T need them again - ever! Woo hoo!

I have clothes from the 80's that I hesitate to give away, don't know why.

But I have NO problem giving away my fat girl clothes. I am over a year out now and I dn't miss them, don't wish I had kept anything, and KNOW I will never need them ever again.

As long as I have my little friend, I am on the road to a healthy weight and smaller size clothes.

Good luck. It is hard at first, but it will get easier.

Cheers

PaulaX: clothes from the 80's are great for those "retro parties" haha! You never know, clothing styles do cycle back around again after about 30 years or so, so those 80's styles will be back in soon! I wore a lot of hot pink and black in the 80's and I notice those colors in stores already, but I hope the "big shoulder pads" don't come back - yuck!

This thread reminds me -- did anyone see that show "I Can't Believe I Wore That"....?

I recorded the 70's, 80's and 90's episodes (don't know if there are more or not!) So far I've only watched the one from the 70's.

Man, we wore some ugly junk!!!!

Lol! I sure hope not. Hey, I am 44, I don't 'get' 80's parties. It feels like it was just yesterday.

Ya, it's the shoulder pads that I don't ever want to see ever again.

In fact, I am going to go toss a few of them right now.;)

Make more room for my new size 12 pants I am going to go buy this weekend.:whoo:

I have a pile in the bottom of my closet. As soon as I try something on that's too big, it goes into the pile. My closet is just not big enough to hang on to bad memories.

I finally did, although it took me forever an I still have some size 3x pregnancy pants. Perhaps it is because they cost a lot and I am poor, or that i can't really afford more clothes right now. But I think it is because it took me SO LONG to find clothes that I thought looked decent on me when I was over 300, that a part of me is terrified to go through that again, even though i know I won't.

A few years back I lost about 50 lbs. I tho't I'd be smart AND THRIFTY and wear my 'fat clothes' until I reached my goal. And then I saw a photo of myself and ditched them all. OMG -- I was so sloppy looking!

(Actually, I prayed for them to be a blessing to someone in need. A friend from church approached me about giving them to a co-worker. I did and she was thrilled to get them.)

ennywayz... I've already extracted promises from my two daughters and a couple of close friends -- the MINUTE they notice me looking sloppy, it's time to pack off the old stuff and TAKE ME SHOPPING!!

I've gotten rid of all my "fat" clothes except the ones that I wore on my surgery date. I kept them to remind myself of how far I've come. It also helps my brain catch up with my "new" body.

My original fat clothes I had great pleasure in discarding, I hated everything I owned and only bought it becuase it fit me.

Lately though, its been hard. I have quite a few things that really mean something to me, that I bought becuase I loved and for the first time, in years I could buy it and wear it and feel good in it. Lately, I've lost lots of inches if not much on the scale and I've just been going through my wardrobe and feeling really sad parting with things, that I've barely even worn.

We're going away to warmer climes in four weeks, which is why I'm sorting through my wardrobe. All the summer clothes are out here (its winter and August, insane) but I'm not buying, I want to wait until summer is actually here becuase now every lb makes a noticeable difference. I'd only have to lose another 10 and everything would be too big. So my holiday wardrobe is going to be a mish mash of baggy items, lol, but Byron Bay is a hippy community where there's tons of birkenstocks and dreadlocks, so its all good.

I kept one pair of fat jeans, they are hilarious now. I pull them up and let go and they just fall to the floor, I cannot believe I was that big.

Loved the shoulder pads.

Loved the flight suits.

Loved the whole "Pat Benetar look."

I look very forward to having to make a decision about giving away my fat clothes and buying phat clothes

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
