ecoreen94 37 Posted May 5, 2016 As many of you know I'm very new to this and already it has been super frustrating! Monday I had a doctor refer me to the center that was not very professional and the surgeon had many bad review on many different sites! ( I'm so glad I research EVERYTHING before I commit to anything!) Since then I have been calling many centers, looking up many surgeons and finally called one and set up an appointment for the 17th of May. I'm super happy especially since I was getting very discouraged! How long did it take you to find your Bariatrics center? Recycled 2,182 Posted May 5, 2016 When it comes to medical issues, you should always follow due diligence and be comfortable when making a choice. I was lucky with my Weight loss center. It was the first one I checked into and was fantastic. However, with my knee replacements, I went to five Surgeons before I decided. That effort was worth it as my results were great. Take your time and don't settle. Be sure. Good luck.
JamieLogical 8,710 Posted May 5, 2016 Some people don't get a whole lot of choice because of their insurance, so you should count yourself lucky in that regard. But one of my favorite quotes of all time is: "Where there is clarity there is no choice. And where there is choice, there is misery." Sometimes having choices isn't such a blessing. Anyway, I was self-pay and went to Mexico so I had to do a TON of research before choosing a surgeon and facility. It took me probably close to a full month of reading reviews and posts, sending emails, and reading the provided materials from various surgeons before I made my choice. Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted May 5, 2016 I was fortunate in that my PCP referred me to an outstanding surgeon/program that has a great track record and is a Bariatric Center of Excellence. The bad news was that my insurance excluded any bariatric surgery.
