@@Andrea72 Before surgery I tried the C25K Program. Injured myself so bad I could barely walk for two week. One of my goals post surgery was to do the Redbud 5K in OKC.

I still enjoy running 3.5 miles in my neighborhood 2-3 times a week. However, I'm now looking to push into the 10K zone. Why? Because I just want a challenge. No, that's not it really. My girlfriend is a "real" runner, however she has wiped out the cartledge in her knee and she is really limited to 3.1 miles at a time. I know I am not going to beat her at a 5K, so I'm going to out distance her ;-).

Lol. Good for you @@OKCPirate good for you!!

When I first discussed it with my personal trainer, he said "Im not saying you will take first place, but you can definitely run it". I told him I wasn't looking to win, just to cross the finish line without dying.

Today the excitement has vanished and I'm left with the "what the heck did I get myself into" thoughts, but I'll push through. Panic stricken and all.

I was wondering how long it would take you to chime in @@KindaFamiliar

No worries on me backing out. I've put too much money out, and told too many people just to make sure I stick with it.

I promise the evening of November 13th, you will either see a picture of me on a gurney, or one with a medal around my neck.

Thanks. I am not sure at all what I got myself into, but I'm on my way! I figured out last night that I need to average 13:30 miles or less to beat the bus that picks you up for being too slow. :P:huh: I am averaging 14 min/miles now so I think I can do it by October.

Depending on your size, I highly recommend Moving Comfort bras. I like Maia, but I am a D/DD cup even after more than 70 lbs. They have lots of different styles. I knew I liked Maia, and I knew I wanted to run during my honeymoon period so I found a really amazing clearance on maia bras last fall. I got two for less than $15 each! They are bright pink, but they are smaller than what I have since shrunk out of so I have managed not to have to pay full price for any new ones yet.

Good luck on your shopping.

pam

thank's for the recommendation! I have been shopping for a sports bra because mine are getting too big around. I will try to pop into a local store to try one on when we are out shopping for a graduation dress for #2 daughter this weekend.

I'm only speculating @@KindaFamiliar

I've been told by more than one that I'm not like most women and I wouldn't dare give away that information.

What a coincidence...

I've also been told that I'm not like most women...

And that is something about which 'most women' should really rejoice!!!

Now...

Weren't you talking about running?

Or boobs...

Or something....

Im still trying to wrap my head around running 13 miles. I start training on Monday so I figure if I make it through that day without dying, I'm off to a great start.

So in keeping you guys updated, I remembered I had a friend that is a triathlete and asked if she could suggest someone I talk too prior to me just hitting the open road.

Well that led me to emailing her trainer. He replied asking if we could talk on the phone so he could get a better idea as to what my needs are.

Thinking he was just a normal trainer, I said sure. Turns out he is a USA Triathlon Certified trainer. I have never been so scared to talk to someone before in my life.

How do I end up in these situations?!?!? Lol

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
