I'm 6 days post op and I feel drained and sick to my stomach--and by drained I mean that tired, weak feeling you get when you're hungry and haven't eaten for a while. This just started yesterday; I'm meeting my Fluid and Protein intake requirements. What can I do to stop feeling so sluggish? The liquid phase will be the death of me!!! Part of me wants to skip this phase and move on to the mushy foods phase...ughhh!!!

I was really drained after surgery too. I actually took multiple naps a day for probable two weeks. I mostly walked, sipped fluids and slept. Remember your body is healing and needs rest. If you are meeting your Fluid and Protein requirements that awesome. Just hang in there it does get better. Listen to your body and get plenty of rest!!

It is very draining. I am 6 weeks out today, and on normal foods, but I still have days I get wiped out. Good thing is is its not as bad.

Even with those draining moments, I've really started to feel pretty fantastic.

Hang in there. I promise you will too!!

I'm a week post op and trust me you will feel that way but what I do is just try and remain positive and I get as much rest as I need because we just had major surgery . sometimes I have like a surge of energy and I'll get up and clean or walk or run an errand but then by the time I'm finished I'm exhausted . we are getting there hun keep pushing through

The first week post-op I felt like I had been hit by a truck. This was due largely to the major surgery, but also going cold-turkey off of a major caffeine dependence and carbs! (I did not do a pre-op diet). I got some energy back during the second week, but now that I'm back to work and life, I am utterly exhausted. I found the increasing my Fluid does help.

I am feeling the same way guys .. I am still in the hospital though .. I am just 2 days post op, hopefully going home tomorrow .. my anxiety is through the roof as I am trying to figure out how much Water and Protein I can conserve at one time .. my pain level is ridiculous but half of it is gas pains .. I jist keep trying to tell myself better days are ahead

Thank you everyone for the reassuring responses! I thought it was something I was doing (or not doing), but it sounds like everyone goes through this. I also keep forgetting this is considered a major operation (silly, I know).

Tomorrow is post op day 8. I was surprised how good I felt this morning. By the afternoon I was tired again...but I'm praying to wake up refreshed like today. Each day does get a little better. Good job on getting your Proteins and fluids in...I struggle with that.

I'm another one that week 3 was my turn around. I slept all the time during the first 2 weeks.

How did you get away with no pre op diet????????? Wow! I thought they'd deny you if you didn't. Just asking

Has anyone tried Vitamins and B12 shots? If so did it help during the draining stage?

Girl, I felt the same way you do. I'm now 8 days post op and I feel great. I still get tired if I do too much but that's because of the amount of calories I take in (or don't take in). You will feel better, I promise. Remember, this was just a tool, but if you are a foodie like I was, it's like a major loss in your life. This will sound weird, but I try to cry as much as possible to release excess energy and it really helps.

I sleep to much I think. I am 2 weeks and 2 days out of surgery.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
