So I only had surgery on March 1, 2016. I am down 51lbs but seem to be veering off track. I am having a hard time with chocolate. I can not stay away from it, if I see it, I eat it. Same also goes for other foods. If I am home for dinner I eat whatever is put on the table to some extent. For example tonight, it was Breakfast for dinner, french toast, eggs, home frys, and bacon. Well about 6 pieces of cubed homeys, 2 slices of bacon, and a scrambled egg I walked away. That is still unacceptable. The other night it was chicken wings, 4 chicken wings later I got up. I don't get what is so hard to stay away from things. When I am working things are fine, I pack yogurt, Protein Shake, some cheese, and a sugar free pudding and thats my days worth of consumption until dinner. I also have a hard time getting my liquids in, I think this may be the reason why I get light headed quite often when I stand up. I am 5'6 196lbs and before surgery when I was at 250 it never happened. Any suggestions, hints, tips, etc, anything, especially for the eating??

Try getting more high Protein, low carb food during the day - and get your Water in. Have your blood pressure checked to make sure not too low (light headed) but that could be that you're not eating enough during the day. Hang in there! You've done great so far!

That sounds like a high amount of food this early. You may need a supplement support. I think I may need it too. I can't eat much but want and crave sugar. Call dr. And explain, they may suggest hcg.

Thank you, thats the other problem is never knowing if I eat enough, my typical day (without any screwups) consists of greek yogurt (80 cals) for breakfast, Protein shake (150 cals) between breakfast and lunch, greek yogurt (80 cals) for lunch, slices of cheese (160 cals) between lunch and dinner, and then whatever for dinner, whether its another yogurt because I have a new found high liking to it, mashed potatoes, or Soup (80-160 cals) and then I will drink 2-3 cups of coffee (16-24oz each) with fat free half, and a 24oz bottle of Water if I remember to drink it. So about 600-700 cals a day.

But how much Protein and carbs are you eating? Are you meeting you protein goals set by your Dr? The protein is just as important for us this early as is keeping our calories down.

Can you remove some of the tempting food from the house? I know living with family means you can't get rid of it all. I am not into sweet food at all, but starchy Snacks are my weakness. I try to avoid ever having them in the house, but am ok with chocolate or iceblocks as I know I won't touch them.

I think what you are facing is just part of the journey and it is so individual that you need to find what works for you. Hopefully someone posts something that rings true for you and sends you in the right direction. Best of luck.

I have found a product that is helping me with it....Rockin refuel muscle builder but they only have it at krogers and speedway. I need to drink it at late night to help....30 G of Protein and it helps. I live in KY.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
