jackson0024 3 Posted May 4, 2016 So I only had surgery on March 1, 2016. I am down 51lbs but seem to be veering off track. I am having a hard time with chocolate. I can not stay away from it, if I see it, I eat it. Same also goes for other foods. If I am home for dinner I eat whatever is put on the table to some extent. For example tonight, it was Breakfast for dinner, french toast, eggs, home frys, and bacon. Well about 6 pieces of cubed homeys, 2 slices of bacon, and a scrambled egg I walked away. That is still unacceptable. The other night it was chicken wings, 4 chicken wings later I got up. I don't get what is so hard to stay away from things. When I am working things are fine, I pack yogurt, Protein Shake, some cheese, and a sugar free pudding and thats my days worth of consumption until dinner. I also have a hard time getting my liquids in, I think this may be the reason why I get light headed quite often when I stand up. I am 5'6 196lbs and before surgery when I was at 250 it never happened. Any suggestions, hints, tips, etc, anything, especially for the eating??
KristenLe 5,979 Posted May 4, 2016 Try getting more high Protein, low carb food during the day - and get your Water in. Have your blood pressure checked to make sure not too low (light headed) but that could be that you're not eating enough during the day. Hang in there! You've done great so far! b17083 14 Posted May 4, 2016 That sounds like a high amount of food this early. You may need a supplement support. I think I may need it too. I can't eat much but want and crave sugar. Call dr. And explain, they may suggest hcg. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
jackson0024 3 Posted May 4, 2016 Thank you, thats the other problem is never knowing if I eat enough, my typical day (without any screwups) consists of greek yogurt (80 cals) for breakfast, Protein shake (150 cals) between breakfast and lunch, greek yogurt (80 cals) for lunch, slices of cheese (160 cals) between lunch and dinner, and then whatever for dinner, whether its another yogurt because I have a new found high liking to it, mashed potatoes, or Soup (80-160 cals) and then I will drink 2-3 cups of coffee (16-24oz each) with fat free half, and a 24oz bottle of Water if I remember to drink it. So about 600-700 cals a day.
KristenLe 5,979 Posted May 4, 2016 I don't think you're getting enough Water. I'd stick with Protein for dinner and veggies and see if that helps the cravings. I'm going to a therapist pre-surgery hoping to figure out how to stop the mindless eating (mostly at night).
Samara1974 116 Posted May 4, 2016 (edited) But how much Protein and carbs are you eating? Are you meeting you protein goals set by your Dr? The protein is just as important for us this early as is keeping our calories down. Edited May 4, 2016 by Samara1974
BCs 1000 364 Posted May 4, 2016 (edited) Can you remove some of the tempting food from the house? I know living with family means you can't get rid of it all. I am not into sweet food at all, but starchy Snacks are my weakness. I try to avoid ever having them in the house, but am ok with chocolate or iceblocks as I know I won't touch them. I think what you are facing is just part of the journey and it is so individual that you need to find what works for you. Hopefully someone posts something that rings true for you and sends you in the right direction. Best of luck. Edited May 4, 2016 by BCs 1000
jackson0024 3 Posted May 4, 2016 With what I listed above it comes out to be 57g Protein and 50g carbs
b17083 14 Posted May 5, 2016 I do night time grazing too. The dietician told me to let her know if it continues so I can get support. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
