mine was over a year, but that is because my testing found a medical problem that needed to be resolved before moving forward.

look, I think most of us had a few little food parties - but the truth is the better you eat now - the more veg and nutritious food you have, the better your body will be prepared to recover from what is major surgery, so just keep that in the back of your mind!

mine is being reviewed by insurance right now!!!! i started process from July 2015 waited 6mo insurance wait. During that time had to get classes in and testing. After that referred to surgeons office waited for consultation and other pre necessary testing. Tomorrow is endoscopy for the surgeons own purpose. I am hoping to get June 15th surgery if approved. This will be a total of 11 mo. Some people sooner, some later it all depends on each. Good luck to you. I'm excited.

Luckily my insurance didn't have a requirement for a supervised diet....so I got through my process in 2 months.

Basically it all depends on your insurance requirements as to how long the process takes.....Good luck to you!!!

I had a 6 month insurance "phase 1" that required 12 visits to Nut, 12 PT visits & 12 psych visits. THEN got to meet surgical team to start their testing. Found h pylori on EGD so had to wait 3 months to be sure that was resolved.

I have my final test review with the surgeon in 2 weeks.

They told me that at their center, most people take about a year start to finish.

... Waiting... Waiting...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
