So, ever since surgery (April 25,2016) I have been freezing!! My fingers, toes, nose, everything is so cold!! I am thinking perhaps I am low on Iron since I'm not getting as many nutrients or calorie intake. But, it is to the point where it is almost unbearable. I'm cold at work, at home, no matter where I go. I'm normally very hot natured and everyone at home thinks I'm crazy when I tell them to turn up the temperature of the A/C. Is anyone else experiencing this post op?

I am always cold too. At 20 months out now. I always have my space heater running at work, wear long pants all summer, and I'm always under a blanket at home.

My sleeve put an end to years and years of post-menopausal hot flashes. I'll take it.

this is my husband's *favorite* side effect of my surgery, because for 20 years now he has been cold because I was so hot natured. :D

@@KristenLe - Yes, I'm taking Iron in the form of a nasal spray prescribed by my surgeon and bariatric multis.

Mention something to your surgeon. They may do a Iron level check. I too am cold all The time and my iron was 1 pt away from needing an infusion.

@@Andrea Guadiana Yep ... it's normal ... I always tell my hubby that I'm losing my insulation ... that is why I'm always cold ...

Whereas before ... I would sweat like a butcher!

Now my heater at work is always on and I have it blowing on my hands/arms/upper body ... I always wear a coat ... AC? No thanks!

But ... I'd rather pile on the clothes because I'm cold than sweat like I used to!

@cindyw41- Oh, wow! That is scary!! Did you feel any other symptoms? Or just cold all of the time? My post op is 5/13. I'm hoping I can make it until then, because their office is terrible at returning phone calls.

@@MrsKarenC2008 - Air Five!! I think I'd much rather throw on layers than sweat my butt off like before as well! I used to sweat just sitting there, lol. I guess I may need to invest in a little space heater for the office.

I am extremely tired. I kept hearing about the surge of energy that people get when they lose weight and after 50+ lbs I am still waiting. They said that is also a sign of low Iron.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
