Need info on Dr's Conroe TX

Recommended Posts

Has anyone used a Dr in the Woodlands area and if so what was you experience. I will be self pay and my bcbs policy excludes any cost associated with lapband even if emergency. I can't afford any problems.

Any information you can offer will help. Thanks

I used Dr Leggett for my lap band. He is in Houston off of I-45 and 1960. The nice thing about him is there is not any pre surgery diet. My experience with him was good. He always saw me within a few minutes of my appointment time. I have good insurance so I don't know what his prices are. Here is his website. Philip L. Leggett, MD - General and Laparoendoscopic Surgery

my doctor is dr. st. laurent. His office is located at methodist willowbrook on 249. The surgery center(journey lite) is on 45 south around gallery furniture. sorry I cant remember the exit. It is about 25 minutes south of conroe. I was self pay as well. His seminar was free, his first consultation was 150.00.The surgery was 15,000. The fills are free for life if you do them at the surgery center. If you do them at the office it is 40.00. His follow up visits at his office which is once a month and are free for the first year and I believe are 40.00 there after. The only other expense is the nutritionist which is mandatory for 6 months. She is 250. for all 6 visits or 50.00 a month. He is a GREAT doctor and he has a WONDERFUl staff. I could not be happier.I hope this is helpful..good luck to you!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
