How is your hunger after the honeymoon was over?

Recommended Posts

I'm almost 4 months post op and enjoying the 'honeymoon' when I never feel hungry and have to remind myself to eat.

My question is more for the veterans, once the honeymoon was over how strong did your hunger come back? Did you find you still had reasonable control or did hunger come back with a vengeance?

My hunger came back within a month of surgery. I am a revision band to bypass patient, and not sure if that had any influence on how quickly my hunger returned.

As with the band, you need to be aware of everything you put in your mouth. I have 3 small meals and 1 snack daily. When I'm hungry between meals, I drink Water, sometimes flavored with a SF enhancer. It works for me to structure my eating and not allow myself to give into the grazing I would like to do.

I'm concerned about this too. I have MAJOr problems with stomach cramps and extremely distracting hunger right now and I know they say hunger is reduced with the rny too but a part of me is worried I will be one of the people who is still hungry afterwards. I wish they were taking the rest of my stomach out like with the sleeve

I'm at 3 months post-op today and unfortunately my appetite came back in the last few weeks, mainly wanting

sweet things which I indulge with icecicles 15 calories, but luckily I keep losing weight. Today,

my weigh in day, I was POSITIVE(once again,, like the last three weeks)that I had either stayed the same or

gained but once again I was the same old TWO pounds down - it's been like clockwork.

So it's psychological, because I'm up to a "whopping" 1500 calories occasionally, but still

more often around 1300, and so I think "Oh God, now I'll gain weight...!!" Not stopping to realize that

for a large man who walks regularly, eating anything less than 2000 calories a day probably means

some weight loss or at the very least maintenance.... Definitely am dealing with some vestigial body dismorphia

here ..... oh well

It wasn't until maybe 9 months or so....Now it is pretty hard to keep in under control and I am a year and a half out. I hit and exceeded goal weight and I was so happy! I maintained my weight for 6 months and then hunger and stress hit and I have gained back about 12 lbs. Now it is a daily struggle to keep from grazing. but one choice and one day at a time. I know I can do this.

Thanks for your comments. It looks like for some there isn't much of a honeymoon. Good luck to all of you.

Pedro have you seen your dietician, may they can help, or maybe you are encountering one of those infamous stalls. ...

Coming up on six months out of surgery, and find that sipping on coffee or tea with Protein Powder in it throughout the day keeps me from being ravenous or hungry even at all most of the time.

My hunger came back around 6 months and it freaked me out! I'm now 1 year post-op and it's still very real. I have steered clear of all bread, Pasta, rice, etc. since surgery and plan to stay on that track. When I feel the ole hunger monster screaming, I opt for Protein2o Water and it shuts him up - LOL! I absolutely love the stuff. Groupon had it on sale and (don't laugh) I bought 15 boxes (12 in each) so I'm set for awhile :D

I'm 6 months and my hunger is definitely different. There are days where I am hungry and still have eyes for a huge plate of food and after a couple of bites, I'm done and there are days I still have to remind myself to eat because I just don't feel hungry. It's not the same as before. It would be almost desperate like I would die if I didn't eat right that second and now, it's more like "hmmmm I could eat something right now".

I am about eight weeks out and very similar to @@Sajijoma in that some days I'm not hungry at all and then some days it's all I can do to not grab something. I'm not craving stuff like chocolate or sweets, but when I go eat out with friends or hubbie, the food looks so good. Even if I'm super hungry it doesn't really matter because usually I can only eat about four or five bites at the most. I am realizing that sometimes when I'm considering is actually thirst. I'm still not getting in my 64 ounces of Fluid yet but it's slowly increasing every week.

I'm a year out, my hunger has not returned. I do pay close attention for it, and any time I think there is a twinge of hunger I drink something first and I'm fine. I'm hoping to ride this out as long as humanly possible. Though my hunger hasn't returned, the honeymoon is over And my weight loss slowed dramatically.

Ok here's weigh in day again, and of course I'm SURE I'll finally NOT have lost weight, that I'll either be the same as last week or have actrually gained

but we'll see, when the school bnurse comes in in an hour I'll weigh, so I'll hold off on my massive amounts of teas and coffe and Water etc until I do... hell, I even take my wallet out of my pocket, even take my freakin watch off.... I k now, pretty fanatical wish me luck

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
