Hi all!

I realise this is an American forum but I've not been able to find such an informative and friendly one in the UK so far so hope you don't mind having me here!

I started my weightloss journey on Tuesday 12th April 2016, where I began my liver reducing diet pre-op. I was 20st 9lbs, 289lbs. On the day of surgery, Tuesday 26th April 2016 I weighed 20st 1lb, and now 8 days post-op I weigh 19st 9lbs so 14lbs lost so far.

I hope to use this thread as a bit of a diary and would love any input and replies!

Many thanks :)

Hi Jad,

I had a lapband put in on March 20th,2016, This is great site. I started my journey last May at 220 lbs went in for surgery on March 20 and weighed in at 189,did not need to do a pre-opt diet as i had lost alot before. I am 2 months post opt at 169, so i am down 20lbs. Seem to be coming off really slow. I just keep telling myself to stick with the program and the weight will come off. Congrates on your weight loss.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
