Any Seattle/Tacoma Sleevers with surgeries approaching?

@@eliminnowp

I just started the pre-op diet yesterday, but it was pretty hard! I was fine until later in the day. I left my one meal until the evening so that I didn't have to go to sleep hungry, and that helped, but the temptation was real. And I really don't like Protein Drinks.

I feel completely okay this morning, though.

I am GHC, yes. I don't have the surgery time yet, but I have my pre-op phone interview scheduled for early next week with the nurse. I wonder if I'll get the time then?

I thought I would be terrified at this point about the impending surgery (I know I was the day I first met with Dr. Landers and he freaked me out about the likelihood of getting acid reflux issues with the sleeve :P) but I just feel super relieved. Looking at other people's progress pics in other threads makes me so excited at the kind of change I can expect.

Have you heard anything about changes to the postop diet? I was on the GHC bariatric Facebook group and one of the women said they now want us to do the full liquid phase for 4 weeks after surgery instead of 2 weeks. She said the NUT told her at her post op appt that they just changed it. I hope that isn't true.

I have not heard that. The plan I have is just two weeks for liquid only. 4 weeks would kinda suck, but if they think that's a better plan...

There's a GHC bariatric Facebook group?

Thank you and congrats on your loss!

How is eating going for you? I'm always interested to hear if people have changed tastes, food aversions, or any intolerances.

Has post-op life started to feel normal?

I'm Group Health but had my surgery in Mexico on June 27. Mini bypass. Excellent experience and one fifth the cost of full pay here! Love my new life down 53 pounds in 8 weeks.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
