What is a FUPA lol?

Fat upper pubic area - that dangling kangaroo pouch, so attractive. And jiggly.

If I don't show up at Panera on July 16, follow the trail of giant toothmarks along the highway back to Seattle. You may find me eating skyscrapers. I'll bet they crunch like chicken bones.

Not coincidentally, I'm ready for an award for almost making it through another day surviving on freakin' liquids. I did some errands to get away from my kitchen. But did you know that office supply stores have mesmerizing food aisles? How about Petco - those frosted doggy treats look delicious, but I'd even settle for some kangaroo jerkey from the checkout temptations shelf.

I'm not technically hungry, I know I know, but this sure feels like another crash diet and I am OVER IT already!

So, the low-cal crankiness has apparently set in at my house. How are you guys doin'?

Ha ha ha! This made me laugh. Glad you're keeping your sense of humor!

I've enjoyed hearing about everyone's recovery so far. I have a consult appt. with Dr. Srikanth at the end of this week. I'm excited and nervous! Based on my insurance, I'll probably be cleared in Oct/Nov to have the surgery. I'd still love to be part of your support group though. I think hearing your experience might help me know what is coming my way.

One more thing, did anyone have a nutritionist/dietician that they liked in the Auburn/Federal Way area? I need one for my pre-op requirements.

Hey Jen, would love to have you join us.

My insurance did not require nutrition visits. When you consult at Dr Srikanth's office, their care coordinator will confirm your insurance requirements and then provide you with referral options.

Thanks, they referred me to ATI physical therapy and nutrition but thought maybe someone has someone they really like.

Yes, Gretchen at St. Francis in Federal Way is great and just an all around great lady.

Hi all! This thread quieted down a while back, but I thought I'd check in and see how everyone is doing?

What's new? How's life? What's your status?

I'm working through my 2 week preop diet. 9 more days!!

Congrats! How are you handling the preop diet?

I swing between being totally starving and feeling satisfied and fine. I never knew how much love I could feel for a cup of carrots!

I do feel a little less energetic than usual, so I hope I adjust to the reduced calories soon and get my mojo back. I would kill for a cup of tea right now!

You are GHC right? Has Overlake called to set your surgery time yet? I'm still waiting to find out when mine is.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
