Hi everyone, my name is Hannah and I was sleeved April 14th. The week after I was sleeved I was surprised to find I had lost 11 pounds! After that I have not lost one pound since, I've actually gained 3. I've seen people in these types of postings losing up to 40 pounds in a month. As happy as I am for them, I still can't help feeling like a failure who is destined to be trapped in this fat body forever. My starting weight was 396 and I was hoping one day to see 299, but the fat just doesn't seem to want to leave me. Any help anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated, or even a cyber hug.

G'day @@hannaciousp

Guess what..

You're normal!!!

You're on about week 3...

That's when something generally happens...

It's called "The 3 Weeks Stall"..

There's a post in here somewhere titled "Embrace the Stall"..

Find it and have a read...

You lose good weight for the first couple of weeks...

And then, sh*t gets all outta whack!!!

Forget all of your expectations and forget what you've heard others lose...

You are YOU...

You're gonna be different to everyone else...

We each were...

The important things to do are keep up your Protein and keep up your Water...

Everything will fall in to place...

And when you need to, come in here and have a vent...

Good luck to you...

Let us know how you go...

Be careful about looking at people's stats. Starting weight does not mean Surgery weight. 40 lbs in one month is pretty rare. Some people will have lost 20 lbs PRE surgery, but don't specify that when they post they lost 40 lbs in first month!

how are you doing with your fluids and Protein? sometimes not getting enough nutrition in can slow things down. sometimes it's nothing we're doing ;-)

Thanks for your help everyone! I have absolutely no one to vent to about this that understands. I'm getting the fluids, but the Protein is hard. I hit where I'm supposed to be with Protein, but the shakes seem to taste worse as time goes by. I've been looking into how to make them taste a little more tolerable.

You may want to try adding a tablespoon of sugar free pudding to your shake (if you are using powder.) Really jazzes up the taste!

Keep up the good work. I can understand slow loss can be discouraging. I had surgery over 2 months ago and have lost 27 lbs. Hurts my ego to see others pull 40 lb losses in a month. Just know you're right on track. Follow the plan, and the weight will come off!

People need to stop comparing themselves to other people.

There are several people that post here that I can think of that recently in the past year had surgery. Yeah they have these huge losses they talk about now, but they don't mention that the reason the had those huge losses in the first 2 months is because they weren't able to eat, had issues with Protein, had to be hospitalized for dehydration and a ton of other things. Once they get better all they talk about is the weight the lost not how they got there.

You have no idea what people are really doing behind the scenes to lose weight. Some people are existing on 3 Protein shakes a day for an extended period of time. Yeah that will drop your weight really fast but it will ask wreck your body.

Just make sure you are following your post op instructions, and the weight will come off.

It's a difficult situation to not put yourself in. I only weight myself weekly, but it's extremely hard not to get discouraged when those numbers don't go down. It makes me feel like I've literally done everything I can do to lose weight, and it isn't working. Even if I didn't compare myself to others, it still is very depressing that I'm living this restricted and not seeing results.

Just remember, your body has had major surgery, it needs time to sort itself out. When I stall I give it a couple of days then try something on that was too small the last time I tried it. Chances are that it fits. God only knows what goes on with our bodies but I reckon I have a whole herd of stylists in mine re-arranging it and none of them can agree what needs to go where or what to get rid of. It's only when they all stop having hissy fits with each other that they get rid of the crap and get on with the job of creating a beautiful object. Stick with it and stick with BP as you will get all the help, advice and answers to your questions here.

By the way you'll also get some of the best fits of giggles here as some of the posters really do merit their own stand up slot at the Comedy Store. I love the humour.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
