Did any of you have to try prescription weight loss pills before looking into the gastric sleeve?

My doctor just put me on Phentermine and I am liking it, but I've heard it's very short term, and was really hoping for the gastric sleeve. I'm really worried that after the 3 months the weight will come back, plus some. Did any of you have to try something similar first? If you tried phentermine, what was your experience with it?

One update I just found is I do have a minor heart valve leak from the pills. Be aware of the side effects. I personally wouldn't have used them if I knew it would happen. Sometimes we get too wrapped up in the results and ignore the risks

I used them 2 times and lost weight for around 3 months- then I would gain all the weight back. I tried starting them again this time but stopped because they make me feel crazy. I have anxiety and depression and it does not mix well with that! Decided to do the sleeve and am doing my pre op appointments now. Hoping to have surgery in Feb 2017.
