I'm two weeks away from having my surgery. I've always had insomnia but it's gotten worse lately. I wake up from nightmares about surgery. Either I wake up during surgery or some other strange complication.

I've had two abdominal surgeries before so I know what it's about. I know I'm getting anxious and nervous too

Anyone have suggestions on how to cut out the dreams???

Not sure about pre-op but man, my sleeping patterns have changed now in my life, frankly it's a little

bizarre. I get up at 5 now easily when that's something always very difficult for me in my life.

So I'm grateful for that, but it's strange, plus I'm definitely not getting in as m,any hours of sound

sleep now, I hope this doesn't affect me adversely

It is common to feel anxiety prior to surgery. I am not sure how to eliminate the insomnia. Exercise prior to bedtime may wear you out and help counter the insomnia. You might try a blend of essential oils specifically blended for that condition.

Bump for preop insomnia. Maybe it's because I'm so used to going to bed on a very full stomach...or after a nightcap!

Anyone else suffer? I've always been a bad sleeper. I'm Trying to work on my sleep hygiene and build better bedtime habits. Which should probably not include posting from my phone when I can't fall asleep. Oops.

Insomnia is worse for me as I eat less. Lavender on the bottom of my feet before sleeping helps some - but exercising until I cannot think straight helps more. Today, I walked and walked more than I have ever been able to walk before and I am still up (yup, preop). I used to solve this dilemma with a carb feast and the pattern is ending now. My alarm is set for 7:00 AM and I start by walking the dogs. When I stick to this then sleep around 10:00 PM is easier. Good luck - if you find something non-medicinal that works let us know!

I use the purest essential oil I can get my hands on from doTerra. You can find it on Amazon. Even my husband is using it on his feet to help him sleep better (I snore like a grizzly due to apnea). I would not get the oil in the health food section of the grocery store as it is not as pure and is famous for being watered down by other oils. Some people benefit from spraying some on their pillow or having a vaporizer in their bedroom that they set up before bedtime. We have tried all of these and the feet seem to be the key for us.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
