My surgery was May 9th and have been doing good. I have that same bubbling, gurgling feeling when I drink. The burp hurts but it passes quickly. Not much pain. I am struggling getting the Protein in.

My surgery is tomorrow May 4th and I am a bit nervous but ready to get it done. I know it will be the best thing for me. You will be just fine.

How are you feeling now? How was your surgery?

Preop feelings like this are very, very, VERY common. Have a look over the boards and you'll see.

I don't know who told you you wouldn't enjoy food again after surgery. I am 7.5 weeks out and in every stage of my postop phases, I've found that I enjoyed some foods more than others, but I've always had foods that I enjoyed eating. The lovely thing is that I'm satisfied with so much less now!

Everyone experiences pain differently. Mine wasn't bad at all. The worse part was my larger incision for for the first four days or so. I never took anything stronger than plain Tylenol once I got home from the hospital.

Probably the best response to a post like this I've seen was one that reminded the poster that the decision to have surgery was made when they weren't in a full-on preop meltdown. You decided to have this surgery for sound reasons. Those reasons still exist. They're still true. The only thing that has changed is your perspective.

Miserable? Is there anything more miserable than facing the rest of your life obese? Yes, you may feel less than great for a couple weeks. Not everyone does. A healthier rest of your life is the reward.

My surgery was may 9 and my recovery has been pretty easy. Unfortunately, last night I had that "food stuck" feeling. I made the mistake of thinking that a puréed Soup and a broth are similar enough…I am a full week out but I guess the Soup was just too thick even though there were no chunks in it. Fully pureed soup. Deathly ill. Go figure. And felt like such a loser. I was thinking that even after having 80% of my stomach cut out i still cant follow rules. How can i succeed when I am still trying to "cheat" and game the system. When I woke up today I was able to recognize that I had been way too hard on myself yesterday… And back on broth and shakes only. But what was amazing to me is that after a full week of recovery and feeling amazing, 10 minutes of being violently ill was enough to make me start doubting myself! I cant let any shortcomings come between me and success.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
