I did not experience this. Emotions were in check after surgery.

Fat cells store not only fat but also chemicals and hormones. As you decrease your fat cells, these are released into your system. So you are probably experiencing a hormone overload. Drink plenty of fluids to flush these hormones through your system. I suspect that when you reach your bottom weight, these effects should diminish.

I never cried either, but this is an emotional time for you...lots of adjustments and new experiences. I think it's important to feel your feelings-whether they're hormones or underlying emotions, you clearly need and may continue to need that release. Don't fight it, embrace it! It's part of this process.

No, but then actually I'm John Wayne

just goofy today. But very seriously:

I've found myself getting frustrated and very angry suddenly, spoke to doc and they say it's very common and

connected to enzymes/hormonal changes from stomach and that it usually evens out thasnk good ness

The only bad i felt was when i was kicking the pain pills. My wife was angry at me saying i was being rude but i had to kick them since i had issues in the past. So far other than that, I'm happy as a clam and no one cab figure out how i can cook full blown meals for everyone and not feel the need to eat. I just don't and i am loving the new life i have been given. I want the most of this second chance and no taco or lasagna is going to derail it

Found this thread by doing a search on "depression"! Yes, I am irritable and angry! My wife is a smaller, in shape gal so she still needs to eat, but I find myself so irritated when I have to eat 2oz of cream of mushroom Soup an oz of pudding and an oz of v8. I keep trying to tell myself there will be light at the end of the liquid tunnel once I can move on to some puréed foods, but I swear I will never eat another freaking spoonful of Jello EVER AGAIN!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
